The Bachelor of Arts degree in history provides a student the opportunity to focus on a particular area of historical inquiry while, at the same time, becoming familiar with a number of the major fields of historical study. History courses develop a student's abilities to read analytically, write professionally, speak in public, and think critically. As one of the time-honored, traditional liberal arts, History provides a student the opportunity to understand the world in which he or she lives, as well as the context within which culture develops. History graduates have been successful in a wide range of occupations including law school, government, education, social services, museums, archives, and the history profession itself.
