The curriculum for the preparation of teachers for Secondary school teacher candidates includes three components: A representative core of general education courses, a concentration of studies in an academic discipline, and designed courses in professional education. All students enrolled in the secondary education curriculum must complete a professional concentration focusing on the knowledge and skills required to be an effective facilitator of learning in secondary schools (grades 7-12). Teacher candidates are required to participate in a variety of learning experiences including in diverse settings in public schools. All secondary programs have achieved NCATE accreditation.
