Mathematics and Computer Science graduates are enjoying careers all over the world with such employers as: Lawrence Livermore National Labs, Hapeman Software Solutions, State Farm Insurance, Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center, Argonne National Labs, Northrup Grumman, Idaho National Labs.
Among the successful graduates are: Louis Cole, retired chairman of the board for Legato Systems, Inc.; Mike Zafirovski, president and chief operating officer of Nortel Networks Corporation; Dr. Lori Diachin, one of only 60 people in the country to be awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in 1997; and Dr. William Jacobs, professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
Many of our mathematics and computer science students are offered employment even before they graduate, and 100 percent of those completing student teaching in math education have passed the Praxis Exam.
One of our students was selected for a Honeywell Scholarship to Space Academy for Educators in Alabama. The experience featured activities relating to astronaut training including a simulated space shuttle mission, as well as materials for enhancing science and mathematics teaching in the classroom.
