Make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities.

As a social worker, you will have the unique ability to improve the human condition. Whether you’re assisting children and families, victims of substance abuse, veterans or the elderly, you will be trained to assess their biological, psychological, sociological, cultural and spiritual strengths and needs. You will then be able to direct them to the resources, services and opportunities they need. It all starts with the Bachelor of Social Work at Edinboro University.

Our program is built on the core values of the social work profession - service, social justice, the dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity and competence. Through our curriculum, you’ll learn about human behavior, social welfare, government policy and ethics. In addition, you will have extensive opportunities to develop and apply your skills outside the classroom.

You will graduate with a broad knowledge of the profession and a commitment to providing compassionate, appropriate care in a variety of settings.

Our program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of social work is projected to grow by 15% during the next 10 years - faster than most other occupations.

Internships provide capstone experiences.

During your final semester of the Bachelor of Social Work program, you will have the opportunity for extensive hands-on learning through an internship with a social service organization. You will spend four full days per week at your internship site and work under the supervision of a professional social worker. This experience not only enhances your education, but also provides networking opportunities that often lead to full-time employment after graduation. Sites include:

Nursing homes

Child welfare agencies

Hospice

Drug and alcohol treatment facilities

Veterans’ agencies

Women’s shelters
