PennWest Edinboro's degree programs in Communication, Journalism and Media offer students
the education necessary to excel in some of the most interesting, emergent and scholarly
careers in today's fast-moving communicative and media age.
Why Study Communication, Journalism and Media at Edinboro?
The Department of Communication, Journalism and Media prepares students for a variety
of careers in mass media, public relations, sales and related industries.
Students learn to effectively speak, write, create, persuade, lead, think critically
and work with others – lifelong skills identified by the National Association of Colleges
and Employers (NACE) as the most important qualities employers seek in new hires.
Faculty members possess a broad range of academic credentials and extensive professional
and teaching experience in areas including public relations, digital production, print
media, training and consulting, organizational leadership, persuasion and sales, health
communication and intercultural communication.
A variety of digital production studios and media labs, as well as a television studio,
weekly campus newspaper, and 3,000-watt noncommercial radio station helps students
hone their skills.
Students from all academic departments are encouraged to become involved in a variety
of professionally based co-curricular activities, including our campus media organizations
(ETV, The Spectator and WFSE-FM), Applied Communicators of Edinboro (ACE) and award-winning
chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
