The department’s primary mission is to train our students for their future career and/or educational opportunities in biological and environmental sciences. Our degree programs enable students to pursue a wide variety of career and educational pathways including: biological research, health care, environmental management, wildlife conservation, and education (university, K12, naturalist in science museums, zoos, aquariums, parks and nature centers). Their training can also be combined with other fields for careers in: biotechnology, forensic science, politics, business, economics, mathematics (bioinformatics), scientific writing, and scientific illustration.

Our programs are designed to prepare students for a wide variety of entry level biology positions, as well as graduate work in biologically related Master’s and Doctoral programs. The Biology and Health Sciences Programs are proudly accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
