Clearances are an essential part of any education program because students will be working directly with minors, who are protected under federal law. The list of clearances and forms below are required by all students in the School of Education and must be submitted by the end of their first semester. The clearances must also be updated before student teaching, during their last semester.
The results of all clearances must be submitted to the School of Education Office in 140 Butterfield Hall. Please do not submit until you have ALL nine requirements. Bring originals to turn in at the time of submission. Keep your originals in a safe and accessible location for the various requirements of the University and K-12 school districts. Students not complying with this requirement will not be permitted to participate in clearance-required courses. See list below:
Please note that all teacher candidates must re-apply for clearances the semester before Student Teaching/Internship.
In addition, it is up to the School District (site) whether your clearances are valid to enter their schools and you could be asked to update any clearances at any time. The School District can ask you directly for your clearances while on site, be sure to have these available.
