CURTIS INGRAM TRANSFERS FROM WOFFORD

Former Cardinal Mooney High School Star Joins Edinboro Men's Basketball Team

EDINBORO, PA - Edinboro University men's basketball coach Greg Walcavich today announced that Curtis Ingram (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) has transferred from Division I Wofford and will play for the Fighting Scots this season. Edinboro finished this past season with a 24-7 record, winning the PSAC Championship and playing in the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

"We're real excited to have Curtis join our program," related head coach Greg Walcavich. "We think he'll be able to come in and immediately make a very positive contribution. He's a player in the likes of Rob Sims," referring to Edinboro's three-time All-PSAC West guard.

"We think he'll enhance our returnees. He is the kind of player we needed to add to our roster with Robbie's graduation. He has great size, and as anybody who follows us knows, we have some good perimeter players, but we're awfully small. We think Curtis will be real good for us."

Ingram is a 6'3", 190 lb. guard who played two seasons for the Terriers after a standout prep career at Cardinal Mooney High School. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. As a sophomore Ingram played in 10 games, scoring 35 points (3.5 ppg.) and pulling down 7 rebounds (0.7 rpg.). He made 12 of 25 field goal attempts, including 9 of 20 three-pointers. He was 2 of 4 from the free throw line. Ingram scored a season-high 9 points in a win over Bluefield State, going 3-for-3 on three-pointers. Wofford finished the year with a 14-14 record.

Ingram served as a backup point guard as a freshman before moving to shooting guard this past year. In 2003-04 he played in 18 contests, including starting assignments against Dayton and Texas. Ingram scored 39 points (2.2 ppg.) and had 16 rebounds (0.9 rpg.), along with 10 assists. He made 14 of 38 field goals, going 9 of 21 on three-pointers, and was 2 of 7 at the line while averaging just under ten minutes. He scored a career-high 14 points in 18 minutes in a win over Toccoa Falls, going 5 of 7 from the floor, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the three-point arc. He added 4 assists and 3 rebounds in the contest.

Ingram enjoyed an illustrious career at Cardinal Mooney High, earning first team All-Ohio, All-District and All-Conference honors as a junior (2002) and senior (2003). He averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals as a senior, earning District 1 Player of the Year honors. Ingram was a McDonald's All-America nominee and was selected to play in the Pennsylvania-Ohio All-Star Game (13 points) and Ohio North-South All-Star Game (14 points). He earned numerous Player of the Week awards, including after scoring points in a win over Boardman High School. He was named the state's Player of the Week by J.J. Huddle.com after scoring 32 points against Canfield. A four-year letter winner, he averaged 16.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists as a junior for coach Nick Bellino's team. He was ranked as PrepSpotlight Magazine's fifth-best point guard in Ohio as a senior, and was rated the fourth-best combo guard in Ohio by Ohioprep.com that year.
