The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science
Administered by the History and Anthropology Department
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science provides a student the
opportunity to pursue a broad course of study in the social sciences instead
of focusing on a single discipline.
As with the BA degreees in History or Anthropology, courses which satisify the
requirements for the BASS develop a student's abilities to read analytically,
write professionally, speak in public, and think critically. Courses in history
and anthropology are supplemented with more quantitative and scientific subjects
which prepare the student for a broad range of career paths, from archaeology
to legal studies and secondary school teaching.
