The Financial Services concentration prepares students for careers in personal financial planning, investment analysis, stock brokerage, risk management, and related fields.  Edinboro University's Financial Services Concentration is registered with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc.  Graduates of a registered financial planning program meet the educational requirements to take the CFP® Certification Examination.

 

 

HOT CAREER TRACK


Investment Manager has been cited as one of the hottest career tracks. Financial services professionals work with individuals needing savings, investment,  retirement and estate planning, and with organizations needing financial management and benefits program planning. They can work as independent entrepreneurs and in a variety of commercial enterprises including:

  • financial planning agencies
  • depository institutions
  • non-depository holding and investment offices
  • insurance companies
  • real estate brokerages and investment houses
  • securities and commodity dealerships

STUDYING FINANCIAL SERVICES AT EDINBORO UNIVERSITY

The Financial Services concentration includes the course work necessary to prepare for a career in financial services.  Beyond foundation courses in economics, accounting, marketing, management, the legal environment of business, information technology, analytical methods and integrated decision-making, students study specifics in financial services:

  • Estate Planning
  • Federal Individual Income Taxation
  • Financial Plan Development
  • Money & Banking
  • Personal Financial Planning
  • Professional Selling
  • Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits
  • Professional Selling

Free Electives can be used for internships, additional business and economics courses, and/or virtually any other course the university offers. These flexible credits enable students to explore areas of personal and/or professional interest.
