Welcome Students

Edinboro University offers a variety of internships opportunities enabling students to gain valuable career-related experience before graduation. Experiential learning allows students to confirm their career choice, apply classroom theory in a professional setting, build skills and knowledge needed in the work place, all while working side-by-side with professionals in their chosen field. Not only does this experience enhance one's resume, statistics show that employers prefer to hire new graduates with work-related experience.

Internships Come in All Different Shapes and Sizes, and They CAN BE Anywhere!

Designing an Internship Experience to Fit Your Needs

Credits earned are variable and will be determined by the time commitment and structure of your internship placement.  Internships can be short- term or long-term experiences that last a few months, a full semester, or on occasion, six months. Selected positions are paid while others are unpaid.  Your internship placement may require only a few hours per week or may involve a full-time commitment.  Some students prefer a part-time internship close to campus so they can continue to take courses and live on campus while gaining valuable work-related experience.  With a little imagination and planning, you can create an internship tailored to your needs.  Internships must be approved by your department.  You should begin working with your departmental internship coordinator well in advance of when you intend to complete your internship.  You should also take advantage of the web resources and the individualized services the Center for Career Development has to offer to help prepare you for your internship search.
