Jean Jones is professor in the Department of Communications and Media Studies. She was named the 2006 Educator of the Year at Edinboro University. She has also been named the Student Government Association's Advisor of the Year. She is interested in rhetorical theory, political theory, interpersonal communication and gender theory. Some of her recent publications include the 2011 edition of the textbook Persuasion in Society (with Herbert Simons), Tales of a Texas Cynic: Theodore O. Windt, Jr. Remembered (in Communication Quarterly Vol 54 No. 4 Nov 2006), and the novel Lucifer State (by Trevor Melia and Nova Ryder). She is active in state politics and was named as one of fifty female Democratic state leaders to serve on the Pennsylvania Steering Committee for Barack Obama.  She also works as a union activist and is currently serving as President of Edinboro University APSCUF, the faculty union, where she focuses particularly on her union's negotiations strategy and lobbying efforts in Harrisburg.  Dr. Jones teaches courses in the areas of public speaking, rhetorical theory, persuasion, gender, propaganda and political campaigning.
