2011 Faculty & Staff Annual Campaign
$60,000 President’s Honors Scholarship Challenge
The need for your support grows
Your generous contribution makes it possible for talented students to enroll, regardless of their stations in life. Despite Edinboro’s affordability, the gap between the cost of an Edinboro University education and what students and their families can afford to pay continues to widen. Our students often come from families of modest means, and the University relies on private gifts to help keep an Edinboro education affordable.
As a member of our dedicated faculty and staff, your hard work impacts the lives of students in essential ways. Every day, each and every one of us contributes toward ensuring that students have an opportunity to embrace the Edinboro Experience and reach their education goals. Giving to Edinboro is another great way to show your support and to help.
We’ll match 100 percent of your gift
Your gift to the President’s Honors Scholarship will be matched 1:1 to provide financial assistance for Honors Program students.
The challenge match pool is $60,000 from a generous anonymous gift received by the University. It will be used to match contributions from faculty and staff to the President’s Honors Scholarship until the pool is depleted.
Why your participation matters
Not only are you providing financial assistance to our creative and passionate students, but a strong faculty and staff giving program demonstrates to external donors that our employees model the giving behavior they should emulate.
Payroll deduction makes it easy to give
Here’s an easy and convenient way to support the President’s Challenge. Plus, by making your contributions through payroll deduction you can spread your gift over 26 pay periods. Payroll deduction makes giving easy to budget, saves you time and even helps the environment.
A challenge to recruit the best and the brightest
The Dr. Charles C. Weber Honors Program at Edinboro University is committed to recruiting and attracting the best and brightest students — and one of the best ways to do this is through scholarships.
The new $60,000 President’s Honors Scholarship Challenge match is devoted to increasing merit-based scholarships. These funds enable Edinboro to attract and retain exceptional students with high academic potential to the University Honors Program.
The Honors Program at Edinboro is supported by stellar faculty members who are enthusiastic about working with talented and motivated students in small classroom settings. Open to all majors from all academic disciplines, the program seeks to provide students with individualized attention and the opportunity for extraordinary experiences that is often only found at expensive private institutions.
The impact of giving
Grateful Students
“Words cannot express how thankful I am to receive this scholarship…I am truly honored. I can assure you that this scholarship will be put to good use. I will complete my time at Edinboro University with the same passion and pride that has helped me reach this point.”
~Mr. Zackary Zenko, Class of 2011, Honors Program
Supportive Faculty and Staff
“I worked several jobs as an undergraduate to pay for school, and I want to make it a bit easier for others who want to improve their quality of life. I have never forgotten those who assisted me academically and financially. It’s a way of honoring my mentors.”
~Dr. Erinn Lake, Associate Dean of the Graduate School
“While our university provides an excellent education at an affordable cost, many students still struggle financially. Giving what I can each year helps me feel a part of the University’s mission to enable people of all ages and backgrounds to have a chance for a better life.”
~Ms. June Baker, Facilities Office
“I invest in Edinboro University as a matter of pride and ownership in the institution. My colleagues are doing terrific things to educate our students, and this allows me to be a small part of that success. Collectively, we are all educators.”
~Dr. Bob McConnell, Director, Office of Students with Disabilities
