1970 LAMBERT BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SCHOLARSHIP

The 1970 Lambert Bowl Championship Team Scholarship Committee will fund the scholarship annually with donations made by the team, family, friends, coaches, and general football boosters. The individual must be an incoming freshman, transfer, or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

NANCY J. ACKER ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides awards to an entering female, freshman athlete who exhibited academic achievement while in high school.  This scholarship is renewable for a total of four years as long as the recipient remains an athlete in good standing and maintains a QPA of 2.0 or greater. 

ALUMNI ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS (MINOR SPORTS)

Three scholarships are awarded to minor sports participants (men's/women's swimming, softball, baseball, tennis, cross country, track) who have completed a minimum 30 credit hours of study and whose QPA is 2.7 or greater.  These scholarships are renewable for up to three years providing the recipients remain active in their respective sports programs and continue to maintain a 2.7 or greater cumulative QPA. Financial need is preferred.

ALUMNI FOOTBALL PLAYERS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is offered annually to an entering freshman who is a member of the Edinboro University football team.  The recipient must have a minimum SAT score of 700 (14 ACT) and a high school QPA of 2.0 or greater, in addition to being a high-impact player.

GARY AND TERRI ASTORINO WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides funds to an incoming freshman or upperclass student who resides in Pennsylvania, is a member of the wrestling team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  At the discretion of the Athletic Director, multiple awards may be given.  This scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

ATHLETES OF THE 50'S SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by a group of alumni who refer to themselves as the Athletes of the 50's to promote and encourage the same athletic spirit as displayed by this remarkable group.  The individual selected must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  The scholarship may provide multiple awards and may only be awarded for the Fall and/or Spring semesters.  Financial need is a factor.

ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME SCHOLARSHIP

Members of the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame are a unique group, honored for their athletic accomplishments, contributions to society and community, and their demonstration of unparalleled energy in support of Fighting Scots athletics.  This scholarship has been established not only as a tribute to Edinboro University Hall of Fame athletes, but also to encourage the same commitment to education and community involvement to current student-athletes, in and out of the classroom.  The scholarship will rotate in the following order: football, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's volleyball, women's soccer, wrestling, women's cross country, women's swimming, men's cross country, softball, men's swimming, and adaptive athletics.  The scholarship recipient will be selected by the head coach of the designated team and must meet and maintain NCAA eligibility requirements.  Preference will be given to children or grandchildren of Hall of Fame members.  The scholarship may provide multiple awards and may only be awarded for the Fall and/or Spring semesters.   

GARY BARBOUR SCHOLARSHIP

Mr. Barbour holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.  He has had extensive teaching experience in management, business decision making, and quantitative analysis during his more than 30 years as a faculty member at Edinboro University.  The individual scholarship recipient must be a returning (upperclass) student who is a member of the Edinboro University Women's Basketball Team, with a minimum 3.0 GPA and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

J. JUDE BASILE FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

J. Jude Basile (Jude) earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Edinboro State College in 1976; a master’s degree from Indiana University in 1978, and his J.D. from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1981.  Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Jude learned the value of hard work from his parents and working in the family’s neighborhood restaurant.  After being recruited by the University of Notre Dame, he chose to attend Edinboro Sate College, where he is a member of the Football Hall of Fame and where he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2008. The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

GEORGE BAUMANN/A. CARL SANTOS MEMORIAL WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was created by Mr. Joseph Baumann and Mr. Richard Santos to support the athletic program at Edinboro University.  It is awarded to an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the wrestling team.  The student must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  Renewable based on the discretion of the coach and University policy.  Two or more annual awards may be given at the discretion of the coaches based on the scholarship "interest" account balance.

BRUCE BAUMGARTNER WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a qualified wrestler attending Edinboro University who has attained academic achievement and meets NCAA requirements for eligibility.  The coach identifies the student.  This scholarship is renewable based on the discretion of the coach and University policy.

PAUL M. BELOSH AND FAMILY ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will rotate in the following order starting with football; women’s basketball, football, and men’s basketball.  The order will repeat.  In the event a sport declines, the scholarship award will be made to the next eligible sport in the rotation. The scholarship recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.

BLUE CROSS OF WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA WRESTLING

This scholarship is awarded to a qualified wrestler attending Edinboro University who has attained academic achievement. The coach identifies the student.

BORO PRIDE FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Dave Higham, ’87 football alumni, Scott Browning, Edinboro University head football coach, and a group of alumni have created this scholarship with donations and proceeds from the Alumni Football Players Golf Outing. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

BROWNING FAMILY FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

The establishment of this scholarship demonstrates Scott, Charles, Rick, Mitchell and Bradley Browning’s dedication to Edinboro University football and higher education with the intention of providing financial assistance to student-athletes. The individual must be an incoming freshman, transfer, or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

ART BUDZOWSKI ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship, renewable for a maximum of four years, is awarded to an incoming freshman male or female athlete who is a resident of Erie County, PA; preference given to graduates of Girard High School.  The recipient must maintain a 2.0 or greater QPA, be enrolled full-time, and continue to participate in the Edinboro University varsity athletic program.  Financial need may be a factor. 

COACH FRED J. CARO (1963-84) SCHOLARSHIP IN MEMORY OF DENNIS BAKER

Dennis Baker was an enthusiastic and competitive wrestler for four years (1972-76).  He was an “upper weight” young man who was willing to take on anyone, regardless of size.  He is fondly remembered as being happy, respectful and cooperative, but scrappy and very competitive.  Sadly, Dennis was killed at a very young age in a 1979 automobile accident. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  

CHAD CAROS WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Chad Caros graduated from Edinboro University in 2002 with a degree in business administration, a concentration in financial service, and a minor in economics.  He currently works in the international banking industry for HSBC.   HSBC Bank USA has more than 460 bank branches throughout the United States and is one of the nation's 10 largest bank holding companies, offering its four million customers a full-range of banking products and access to global markets and services. The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

KIM CLARK MEMORIAL ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This award was funded by friends of Kim Clark, an avid sportsman and former Edinboro University student.  It is awarded to an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University football team or a minor sport team and meets all NCAA requirements and maintains NCAA eligibility.  It is renewable for a maximum of four years based on the discretion of the coach and University policy.  Preference is given to individuals who reside in Erie or Crawford counties; however, if there are no candidates from the aforementioned counties who qualify, the scholarship can be awarded to anyone who meets all the other requirements.  Two or more annual awards may be given at the discretion of the coaches and will be based on the amount of funds available.

ART COCOLIN WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

A veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II, Mr. Art Cocolin is a well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist.  He has been a visionary in the fast-food industry and the owner of  numerous successful restaurants during his career.  Mr. Cocolin has exhibited exceptional generosity and civic responsibility to his community, providing financial support and leadership to many non-profit organizations.  The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

CLYDE L. CRESSLER FAMILY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Clyde and Carol Cressler were supporters of the Edinboro University wrestling program during the 1980s and 1990s and were instrumental in assisting the Fighting Scots in their elevation to Division I.  Clyde was a 115 lb state champion wrestler for Shippensburg in 1961 and has been involved in wrestling programs thereafter with supporting the Edinboro wrestling program for over 25 years.  The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

GRACE CROWE ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is made available to three entering freshmen who are minor sports participants.  The student must be participating in one of the following sports:  men's/women's swimming, tennis, track, and baseball or softball; have a SAT score of 900 (or an ACT score equivalent); graduated in the top 40% of his/her high school class; exhibit high academic achievement; enroll full-time (12 or more credits).

DENIS M. DILORETO WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

A member of the Edinboro University wrestling team, Denis graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  He is an attorney with the law firm of DiLoreto Cosentino & Bolinger PC, and resides with his wife, Kathy, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

DINING SERVIES ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

An annual award will be made to incoming freshmen participating in a minor sports program.  The minor sport(s) will be selected each year by the Athletic Director based on departmental need.  The recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  Financial need is a factor.

DUBIN FAMILY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

The individual must be an incoming freshman, upperclassman, or transfer student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA, PSAC, and University requirements.

EBERLE’S PHYICAL THERAPY SCHOLARSHIP

Mark and Michelle Eberle have exhibited exceptional generosity and civic responsibility to the Edinboro community.  They are advocates and supporters of Edinboro University and its athletic programs.  They are establishing this scholarship to provide financial assistance to deserving student athletes and believe wheelchair basketball is an excellent way to bring attention to the needs of students on campus and disabled people within the community. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wheelchair Basketball Team and meets minimum NWBA requirements. 

EDINBORO UNIVERSITY COACHES SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides financial assistance to student athletes participating in one of the University's 17 intercollegiate sports teams: men's baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, swimming, tennis, track, wrestling; women's basketball, cross country, softball, swimming, tennis, track, soccer and volleyball.  It will be rotated each year.  This scholarship provides an annual award to an incoming freshman or upperclassman.  The recipient must be a full-time student and meet all NCAA eligibility requirements.

EDINBORO UNIVERSITY HEALTH AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION TRIATHLON SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, the Edinboro University Health and Physical Education Department organizes the Edinboro triathlon. The student will be eligible through participation in the Edinboro Triathlon as an entrant or as a volunteer for the current year. The successful candidate must have earned 30 credits and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The successful candidate must provide evidence of professionally based, extra-curricular involvement in Edinboro University activities. 

MILIAN (BILL) ENGH ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a student who is an active participant on the football team, who meets a minimum of all NCAA requirements and maintains NCAA eligibility.  Renewable based on the discretion of the coach and University policy, this scholarship may be received for a maximum of four years and is awarded during the Fall and Spring semester.

ERIE BOTTLING COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a freshman varsity athlete who is in the upper 2/5 of his or her high school graduating class and has a minimum SAT score of 900.  The recipient must be a resident of Erie or Crawford County; financial need may be a factor. 

KEGARISE-STARR-EVERHART FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Nathan Everhart graduated in 1985 from Edinboro University with a degree in Nursing.  He is a former member of the university’s football team and is an active supporter of the athletic program.  His wife, Sandie, is the daughter of Bill Starr, a 1953 graduate of Edinboro and former wrestler and football player.  The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) requirements.

DR. HERBERT V. FERSTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a freshman criminal justice major participating in an intercollegiate sport with SAT scores of 1000, an ACT composite of 22, or is in the top 25% of their high school graduating class.  Financial need may be a factor.

FIGHTING SCOTS MEN'S TENNIS SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. James R. Flynn was a dedicated professor at Edinboro University for over 29 years.  An avid tennis player and tennis fan, Dr. Flynn established this scholarship in 1996 to provide financial assistance to a member of the Men's Tennis Team.  The student must be enrolled full-time (taking a minimum 12 credits per semester) as an incoming freshman or upperclassman that is a member of the Men's Tennis Team and must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.

MIKE FLYNN WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Michael J. Flynn graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1991 with a degree in Business Administration.  A former wrestler, Mike has fond memories of his years on the University wrestling team.  This scholarship is representative not only of his generosity, but his wish to provide increased support to deserving student athletes. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE 1960’S SCHOLARSHIP

The football players of the 1960’s are a close group of alumni and strong supporters of the Edinboro University football program.  They are establishing this scholarship in tribute and honor of the Edinboro University Football Players of the 1960’s and to promote and encourage the same athletic spirit as displayed by this outstanding group of athletes.  The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

FRIENDS OF CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK AND FIELD FUND: WATTS SCHOLARSHIP

The individuals selected (incoming freshman, transfer or upperclassman) must be members of the Edinboro University Cross Country/Track team.

FRIENDS OF SOCCER ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by friends and alumni of the Edinboro University Soccer and Athletic programs. The individual selected (incoming freshman, transfer or upperclassman) is a member of the Edinboro University Soccer Team and must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility, and multiple awards may be given.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

FRIENDS OF SWIMMING ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established by friends and alumni of the Edinboro University Swimming and Athletic programs.  The individual selected (incoming freshman, transfer or upperclassman) is a member of the Edinboro University Swimming Team and must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility, and multiple awards may be given.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

FRIENDS OF WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

The individual selected (incoming freshman, transfer or upperclassman) is a member of the Edinboro University Wheelchair Basketball Team. The scholarship recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  

FRIENDS OF WRESTLING ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an incoming Freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

MATT FUREY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Matthew (Matt) Furey '86, originally from Carroll, Iowa, began competing in swimming and wrestling at age eight and through dedicated practice became a champion in both.  The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  At the discretion of the Head Wrestling Coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.

DAN GABLE WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

FAMILY GEAR WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Brian Gear graduated in 1992 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration.  A former wrestler, he has fond memories of his years on the University wrestling team.  This scholarship is representative not only of the Gears’ generosity, but their wish to provide increased support to deserving student athletes. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  Preference will be made to a wrestling student who is a resident of Florida. 

JOHN GILLETTE MEMORIAL FUND

This scholarship will provide two awards annually: one to a track athlete and one to a football athlete, at the discretion of the respective coach.  The recipient must be an incoming freshman, transfer, or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football/Track team and meets eligibility NCAA requirements.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.  This scholarship may only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

GILTINAN-OVERHEIM ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to minor and major intercollegiate sports programs on an alternating basis.  The student must be an incoming full-time freshman of transfer student enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits per semester, and must be "actively" participating in an intercollegiate sport during the Fall and/or Spring semester.  The student must meet minimum NCAA eligibility requirements and cannot use the scholarship funds to attend summer school/activities.

DR. MICHAEL HAHESY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Michael Hahesy is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education in 1987.  Mike was an outstanding member of the University’s wrestling program and received the Senior Male Athlete Award in 1986 and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  The individual must be a Health and Physical Education major (all tracks). 

DEAN HALL FAMILY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Dean Hall graduated from Edinboro University in 1988 with a degree in communications.  In 1999, he was inducted into Edinboro University's Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding performances as a member of the Fighting Scot wrestling program.  The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upper-class student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

WILLEY HALL FOOTBALL ENDOWMENT

Mr. Brent Willey is President of Titanium Fabrication Corporation (TiFab), a company specializing in the fabrication of high quality Titanium reactive metal and special alloy equipment for the non-aerospace market.  The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

CURLY HALMI MEMORIAL ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

These scholarships are offered to freshmen athletes who participate in football, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's volleyball or wrestling and who exhibited academic achievement while in high school.  These scholarship awards are renewable for each of four years as long as the recipients remain athletes in good standing.

SOX HARRISON SCHOLARSHIP

Three annual scholarships are offered to incoming freshmen athletes.  They are named in honor of the late Sox Harrison who is remembered as "the founding father of Edinboro University's athletic program."

DAVE HIGHAM/MARK WALLACE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN SCHOLARSHIP

Dave Higham graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education and earned his master’s degree in education in 1996.  He was a member of the Edinboro football team and is currently the Assistant Athletic Director for Edinboro University. The individual must be an incoming freshman offensive lineman who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.  

FRANK AND ELIZABETH JAKOVAC MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Frank J. Jakovac graduated from Edinboro University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1973.  He taught for two years in the Penncrest School District, where he also coached football.  In 1975, he joined the Memorex Corporation where he was named Rookie Salesman of the Year in 1976; National Field Salesman of the Year in 1977; and promoted to Branch Sales Manager in 1978.  In 1979, Frank established Memorex Finance Company, which grew to a $150 million annual business.  The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communication and Media Studies, including Journalism/Mass Communication or Communication Studies.  

JON M. HOUY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The individual must be an incoming freshman, upperclassman, or transfer student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wheelchair Basketball Team and meets minimum NCAA, PSAC, and University requirements.

K & R INDUSTRIES, INC. SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the University Wrestling Team and meets the minimum NCAA requirements. At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility. At the discretion of the Athletic Director, multiple awards may be given based on the scholarship's accrued interest balance. This scholarship cannot be used for the purpose of attending summer school.

KING FAMILY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Matthew R. King graduated from Edinboro University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in biology.  Matt was a two-time All-American placing third and fourth at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Wrestling Nationals.  He was also a two-time Erie Wrestling League (EWL) Champion and three-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion. The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

JOSH KOSCHECK WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Josh D. Koscheck earned a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Edinboro University in 2001.  During his Junior season, Koscheck won all 42 of his wrestling matches, and went on to become the NCAA Division I Champion in the 174 lb weight class. In addition to being a four-time NCAA Division I All-American, Josh is a three-time recipient of the PSAC Wrestler of the Year, and earned the Eastern Wrestling League Achievement Award twice.  The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

KYSOR FAMILY WRESTLING OFFICIAL'S SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the wrestling team.  The individual must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.

LAMOREAUX FAMILY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Matthew L. Lamoreaux graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.  A former wrestler, he has fond memories of his years on the University Wrestling Team.  This scholarship is being established in honor and tribute to the Lamoreaux family and to provide increased support to student athletes. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five (5) years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility. 

WAYNE AND VIVIAN LIGATO FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

The Ligatos have countless fond memories of their years at Edinboro University.  This scholarship is representative not only of their generosity, but also their strong belief in the importance of providing student athletes with every opportunity to achieve their educational goals. Each year two awards will be made from the Wayne and Vivian Ligato Family Scholarship.  The endowed funds will be divided equally into women’s swimming and football scholarship awards. The individual must be a member of the Edinboro University football or swimming team and meet minimum NCAA requirements.

LIONHEART WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

MAGDIK FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is available to an incoming full-time freshman or transfer student enrolled for a minimum of 12 credits per semester and "actively" participating in one of the following athletic programs: football, men's basketball, women's basketball, wrestling, baseball, or soccer.  The scholarship shall be awarded in the aforementioned order and shall rotate each year.  If an athletic program cannot identify an eligible student-athlete, the sport next in line shall have the opportunity to receive the funds.  The student must meet minimum NCAA eligibility requirements.  The scholarship award is not renewable and financial aid is not a factor.

HANIO (HANK) MARIOTTI MEMORIAL TENNIS SCHOLARSHIP

The student must be enrolled full time (as defined by University policy) during both the fall and spring semesters and a member of the Edinboro University Tennis Team. The student must meet all NCAA eligibility requirements.

JOHN "BUTCH" MCBRIDE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship presents an annual award to a student athlete who has exhibited outstanding achievement in a varsity sport, as well as high academic performance.  Financial need is also a factor.

DAN M. MCCUE FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the Edinboro University football team and must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility. 

JAMES K. McDONALD ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

Mr. James McDonald, a former athletic director and men's basketball coach, created this scholarship to support the Capital Campaign and the athletic program at Edinboro University.  The recipient of this award must be an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the wrestling team and who meets minimum NCAA requirements and maintains NCAA eligibility. This scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years based on the discretion of the coach and University policy.

McDONALD'S OF EDINBORO WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a member of the Edinboro University wrestling team who meets all NCAA eligibility requirements. The recipient is identified by the head wrestling coach and must exhibit academic achievement. 

JAMES AND MIRIAM MCKINLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The student must meet all of the criteria required to participate on the Edinboro University Tennis Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  At the discretion of the tennis coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.  The individual must be enrolled on a full-time basis (as determined by Edinboro University policy) during both the Fall and Spring semesters.  Financial need may be considered but is not a limiting factor.

DALPH S. MCNEIL SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship is to be awarded to any deserving student attending Edinboro University of Pennsylvania from Jefferson or Clarion Counties, Pennsylvania, who is a member of the Edinboro University Track and/or Cross Country Team.

DR. GARY MEANS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a freshman that is an active varsity sports participant. The student must meet all NCAA eligibility requirements and must be enrolled in one of the following majors: pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-pharmacy or pre-veterinary medicine.

GARY MESSMER SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an active participant on the wrestling team who has a minimum GPA of a 2.0 and a minimum SAT score of 700 (or ACT equivalent). 

DR. JAMES D. MORAN WOMEN'S ATHLETICS AWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Lorie Bearfield is a three-time graduate of Edinboro University having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in History in 1985 and graduate degrees in Education in 1986 and 1987.  The individual scholarship recipient must be a member of one of Edinboro University women's athletic teams and meet minimum NCAA requirements.

ALPHONSE MOSCO ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship will provide funds to four men's athletic programs (basketball, cross-country, wrestling, and football), and will rotate annually.  The individual (freshman, transfer or upperclassmen) is selected by the coach and must be a member of the designated sport.  The recipient of this award must meet NCAA, PSAC, and University eligibility requirements.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters. 

JEREMY O’DAY FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Since leaving Edinboro University more than a decade ago, Jeremy O'Day has had quite the career in the Canadian Football League.  Originally from Buffalo, New York, Jeremy graduated from Edinboro in 1997 with a degree in Health and Physical Education.  The offensive lineman, who was a three-time Division II All-American while playing four years for the Fighting Scots, won a Grey Cup championship with the Toronto Argonauts in 1997, his rookie season.  In 1999, the center signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a free agent and has been there since, and was named a CFL All-Star in 2006 and 2007. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

MR. AND MRS. VICTOR O'DESSA SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship will be awarded to a freshman member of the Edinboro University football team. The recipient is to be identified by the head football coach and is not renewable.

PIZZA HUT ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides an annual award to an incoming freshman who is enrolled full-time and actively participating on the football, women's basketball or men's basketball team.  The scholarship will rotate among the preceding teams in the order presented.  The recipient must have graduated from high school with a minimum QPA of 2.5 in a college preparatory curriculum and meet all NCAA eligibility requirements.  The student must be on the active roster and participating in competition.  This scholarship is not renewable.  Financial need is not a factor.

Plyler Overhead Door Company is a family-owned business serving Erie and Crawford Counties of Pennsylvania since its beginning in 1967.  Jeff Plyler’s support of Edinboro University and its students is representative of his commitment to family, hard work, and community. Incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the Edinboro University football team.  Must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility. PNC BANK ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship provides an award to an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the wrestling team.  The recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  This scholarship is renewable based on the discretion of the coach and University policy.  It may be received for a maximum of five years.

PODUFAL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Joseph (Joe) Podufal received a bachelor’s degree in English from Edinboro University in 1974.  Joe has fond memories of his time at Edinboro, including playing soccer.  Joe and his teammates still get together each fall for an alumni soccer game. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Soccer Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

DICK AND WILLIE RAHNER SCHOLARSHIP

Incoming Freshman or upperclassman who is a member of the designated team.  Must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.

TODD E. AND MICHELE L. REBICH ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

The establishment of this scholarship demonstrates Todd and Michele Rebich’s commitment to higher education with the intention of providing financial assistance to students participating on the women’s swim team, and to encourage the same enthusiasm to athletics, education and community involvement that they have demonstrated. Anthony Rinella earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Edinboro University in 2000, with a concentration in Financial Services, and a minor in Speech Communications.  He is currently a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley, New York, dedicated to serving individual and institutional investors worldwide. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

ROSS FAMILY QUARTERBACK SCHOLARSHIP

James Ross, currently an Area Sales Manager at Penske Truck Leasing in St. Louis, Missouri, is a 1990 graduate of Edinboro University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.  He served as a graduate assistant in the sports information office while pursing his Master of Arts in Communications.  The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.  The recipient must be a quarterback.  At the discretion of the head football coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.

J. RANDOLPH SEGAR JR. WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

The individual must be an incoming freshman, upperclassman, or transfer student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA, PSAC, and University requirement

TOM SHIFFLET WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

Tom Shifflet graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1995 with a degree in health and physical education.  As a wrestler, he registered 118 wins for the Edinboro Fighting Scots and was coached by the legendary Bruce Baumgartner. He was one of just five Edinboro wrestlers to win All-American honors more than twice. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

SGA ATHLETIC/ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

The recipients of the two scholarships offered must be entering freshmen whose SAT scores are 900 or greater and/or have a minimum QPA of 3.0 and will participate in one of the minor sports programs. The minor sports include men's/women's swimming, baseball, softball, men's/women's track, men's/women's cross county, and men's/women's tennis. Financial need is not a factor.  These scholarships are renewable for up to four years providing the recipients maintain a 3.0 or greater QPA, incur no major infractions against the student code of conduct, and continue to participate in their respective minor sports programs.

RON SIMMONS FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Ronald A. Simmons is a 1966 graduate of Edinboro University.  In 1987, Ron created one of the first university athletic endowments, the Ron Simmons Athletic Scholarship.  That scholarship has been providing annual awards for over ten years to deserving student athletes in the men’s basketball program.  Ron is the former owner of Simmons Business Systems, which was the largest independently owned distributor of office products in Western Pennsylvania. The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

PROFESSOR THOMAS STANKO BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP FOR MEN

The individual must be a male junior college transfer student who is a member of the Edinboro University Men’s Basketball Team and meets minimum NCAA, PSAC, and University requirements.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable two years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.

PROFESSOR THOMAS STANKO BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN

The individual must be a female junior college transfer student who is a member of the Edinboro University Women’s Basketball Team and meets minimum NCAA, PSAC, and University requirements.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable two years provided the individual maintains NCAA eligibility.

WILLIAM AND MARY ANN STARR MEN'S ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Men's Wrestling or Men's Football teams, and meets NCAA eligibility requirements.  Recipients are to be selected from the Mars Area School District, including the Borough of Mars, Valencia, Adams Township and Middlesex Township, Pennsylvania.

WILLIAM AND MARY ANN STARR WOMEN'S ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP

SUBWAY OF EDINBORO ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

Rebecca (Becky) and William (Bill) Stafford are both Edinboro graduates.  Becky graduated in 1972 and Bill graduated in 1970.  Bill was a member of the University wrestling program and Sigma Tau Gamma and taught for several years at Fort LeBoeuf High School, Waterford, Pennsylvania.  Together with his wife, they are the owners of several Subway Restaurant franchises, including Subway of Edinboro.

THAYER POWER AND COMMUNICATION LINE CONSTRUCTION CO INC. SCHOLARSHIP

This award will be divided equally between the men's and women's athletic programs.  The Athletic Director will determine the sports that will receive the scholarship money based on departmental needs.  The recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  This award is renewable based on the discretion of the coach and University policy.  It may be received for a maximum of five years. 

RAY TRAVAGLINI WOMEN’S LACROSSE SCHOLARSHIP

A former high school athlete, Ray Travaglini started his first business, Suburban Water Conditioning, in the early 1960’s after a successful stint with the Kroger Company.  By 1964 his water conditioning business was thriving, so he expanded his scope of enterprises and founded Imperial Development Corporation and later Sanray Corporation.  His company built apartment complexes, office buildings, gas stations, and car washes. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Women’s Lacrosse Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

CLIFFORD TROYER WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This annual scholarship is offered to an incoming freshman who will participate in the Edinboro University wrestling program.  The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 in his core-curriculum courses in high school; must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or better;  and must have a minimum SAT Score of 700 (or ACT equivalent). 

CRAIG TROYER FAMILY WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

For over 20 years, Craig Troyer and his family have provided support to the Edinboro University athletic program and student athletes.  His father, Cliff Troyer, is a member of the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame. The individual must be an incoming freshman or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Wrestling Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements. 

LINDA AND BERNIE TWARDOWSKI FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP

The establishment of this scholarship demonstrates Bernie and Linda’s dedication to higher education with the intention of providing financial assistance to student athletes, encouraging the same commitment to education and athletics that they demonstrated during their life. The individual must be an incoming freshman, transfer, or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Football Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

HAL UMBARGER MEMORIAL ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

The individual selected by the coach (incoming freshman, transfer or upperclassman) is a member of the women’s basketball team until the endowment fund reaches $18,000.  At that time, one half of the approved annual scholarship award will be distributed to a member of the football team and one half to a member of the women’s basketball team based on this criteria. The scholarship recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility. 

VANLANINGHAM ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP                                                                        

John VanLaningham has established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to student-athletes.  The scholarship recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  At the discretion of the Director of Athletics, multiple awards may be given.  The award will rotate in the following order: Football, Women's Basketball and Men's Basketball.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

HELEN VAUGHN WRESTLING SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a member of the Edinboro University wrestling team who meets all NCAA eligibility requirements. The recipient must exhibit academic achievement and will be identified by the head wrestling coach.

GREG WALCAVICH FAMILY AND FRIENDS MEN’S BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP

Greg Walcavich has been the head Men’s Basketball Coach at Edinboro University for 20 seasons and during that time, his record has placed him among the elite of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) coaches.  Coach Walcavich topped a milestone two years ago when he became the ninth active coach to reach 500 wins.  The individual scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman, transfer, or upperclass student who is a member of the Edinboro University Men’s Basketball Team and meets minimum NCAA requirements.

WALKER BROTHERS ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an active member of the men's basketball team and may be renewed for up to five years at the discretion of the head basketball coach, who also determines the recipient.

WOMEN'S SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman or upperclassman who is a member of a women's sports team.  The sports team that will receive the award will be selected each year by the Director of Athletics in conjunction with women's sport coaches and will be issued the scholarship based on departmental needs. The recipient must meet minimum NCAA requirements and maintain NCAA eligibility.  At the discretion of the coach, the scholarship is renewable for a maximum of five years.

WRESTLING OLYMPIANS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship will be awarded to a wrestling team member who meets minimum NCAA requirements and maintains NCAA eligibility.  The scholarship is renewable based on the discretion of the coach and university policy, for a maximum of 5 years.

MIKE AND RUTH ZAHORCHAK ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

This award is offered to an entering freshman athlete from Pennsylvania (consideration is first given to residents of Beaver and Allegheny counties). Other factors in selection include academic achievement in high school and athletic prowess. It is renewable for up to four years.
