ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP

Given the university’s commitment to academic excellence and quality growth, President Jeremy D. Brown has established this scholarship to make use of funding earmarked by the Edinboro University Foundation. The scholarship is to be used to enhance access to education for incoming students of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  This award has been created to assist exceptional students to defray the expenses associated with the pursuit of a higher education.

EDWARD AND ELAINE BERCIK SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled full-time and meet all requirements for membership to participate in the University Honors Program.  The scholarship is renewable provided the student remains a member of the University Honors Program.  Financial need is not a factor, however if there are two or more students with identical credentials, the student with the greatest need should be awarded the scholarship.

DR. JEREMY D. BROWN MILLENNIUM LEADER SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Jeremy D. Brown became the 16th president of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on July 1, 2007 and has affirmed that, “Whatever we do must reflect the excellence of Edinboro University.”  The student must be an entering freshman or current student who meets the criteria required to participate in the Edinboro University Honors Program, although the student need not be formally enrolled in the Honors Program. The student must be enrolled full time and maintain a minimum QPA of 3.0. Students must demonstrate academic prowess and also exemplify leadership in extracurricular activities.

COEN FAMILY FOUNDATION HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The Charles S. Coen and Mary Coen Family Foundation was established in 1959 by Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Coen of Washington, Pennsylvania.  The Coen Family Foundation has made significant commitments to education, health care and community development throughout its 45-year history.  The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled full-time and a member of the University Honors Program.  This scholarship may be renewable as determined by University Honors Program qualifications and the Honors Scholarship Committee.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.  Financial need may be a factor. 

COUNCIL OF TRUSTEES HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The Edinboro University Council of Trustees are nominated and appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania with the advice and consent of the Senate.  An active, valuable resource for Edinboro University, the Council reflects the university’s diverse population and possesses an array of professional expertise.  Candidates must submit an application for admission to Edinboro University and plan to enroll as a full-time student and member of the University Honors Program. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above and an SAT combined reading and math score of 1100 or an ACT combined score of 24. Candidates must submit a letter of recommendation from a high school official who is familiar with the candidate’s academic performance and leadership ability. 

GRACE CROWE MEMORIAL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an upperclassmen and a member of the University Honors Program.  The student must have a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.5.  A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Following is the general eligibility criteria for these scholarships.

Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

DIEBOLD SCHOLARSHIP

A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Following is the general eligibility criteria for these scholarships.

Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

FOSTER F. DIEBOLD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Following is the general eligibility criteria for these scholarships.

Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

EBERLY FAMILY HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of the University Honors Program, with preference given to students from Fayette County.  Moral character and financial need are also considered. 

DR. FLORIAN FLOREK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Florek was a passionate advocate of Edinboro University and its students and always demonstrated a strong commitment to higher education.  His wife of 54 years, Anna, is establishing this scholarship not only to honor the memory of Dr. Florek, but also to encourage the same commitment to education and enthusiasm for helping others that he demonstrated during his life.  The student must be a member of the Honors Program. The student must be an entering freshman or upperclass student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Health Services (Biology; Biology/Pre-Medical; Nutrition; Medical Technology; or Nuclear Medicine Technology).

MILDRED FORNESS MEMORIAL HONORS AWARD

This scholarship was established in honor of former librarian, Mildred Forness.  It is awarded to an incoming freshman who meets the criteria of the Honors Program.  The recipient must have had a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a college preparatory curriculum in high school, must have graduated in the top 20% of their high school class, and  have a minimum SAT score of 1140 or ACT score of 28.

HIGHLANDER SCHOLARS FUND

Rarely does a public institution receive an unrestricted gift of the magnitude expected by the anonymous friend of the Erie Community Foundation.  The gift is expected to provide Edinboro University with over $2 million.  Our first priority is to provide scholarships for students.  This award has been created to assist exceptional students to defray the expenses associated with the pursuit of a higher education. The eligible candidate must meet the minimum academic standards for enrollment, which include general scholarship, character, interest, and motivation as may be determined by official scholastic records, aptitude tests, recommendations, and interviews. 

DR. JEAN G. JONES HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The establishment of this scholarship is confirmation of Jean’s strong commitment and dedication to Edinboro University and its students and is representative of her strong belief in the importance of providing students with every opportunity to achieve their educational goals. The recipient must be a non-traditional female student (at least three years out of high school), pursuing an undergraduate degree as evidenced by a record of continuous enrollment at Edinboro University. Preference will be given to a student who has earned a minimum of 30 credits and who had a minimum 1000 SAT score. 

DONALD AND PATRICIA KAUFMAN HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

Donald Kaufman received a Bachelor of Science - Biology, '66 and Master of Science - Education, '68 from then Edinboro State College.  The student must be a member of the Dr. Robert C. Weber Honors Program.  This scholarship may be renewable based on the honors program qualifications and determined by the honors scholarship committee. 

MARIE ROGERS KLINE HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded during the fall and spring semester to a full-time freshman student who has been "unconditionally" accepted to the Edinboro University Honors Program and is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the student remains in the Honors Program, maintains a cumulative QPA of 3.30 or greater.  Financial need is not a factor.

MARQUETTE SAVINGS BANK SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this awarded must be a full-time student who is a permanent resident in Erie or Crawford counties and is enrolled in the University Honors Program. This scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters. Financial need is not a factor. 

JOHN AND FRANCES MICELI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this award must be a member of the University Honors Program.  The Scholarship Committee must consider any full-time student from Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who is pursuing a four-year degree.  Financial need may be considered, but is not a determining factor.

FRANK G. AND DOROTHY D. POGUE HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an entering freshman or upperclass student who meets all of the criteria required to participate in the Edinboro University honors program, although the student need not be formally enrolled in the honors program. The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis.  This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the student maintains an overall cumulative QPA of 3.3 or better.  Financial need is not a factor.

MARY PORRECO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is established not only to honor Mary Porreco's memory, but also to encourage the same spirit of dedication and professionalism displayed by Ms. Porreco in her career and life.  This scholarship may be renewable as determined by the University Honors Program qualifications and the Honors Scholarship Committee.

DR. NANCY S. RUNG MEDICAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Nancy S. Rung received a bachelor's degree in English in 1970 and a Master of Arts in gerontology from Edinboro University in 1984.  In 1977, she was awarded a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland.  For over 30 years, she was in private podiatry practice in Conneaut and Geneva, Ohio.  The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is a member of the University Honors Program.  The eligible candidate will qualify for the Honors Program based on academic achievement, aptitude test scores, class rank, and teacher recommendations.  The student must be pursuing medical or pre-medical course of study.  These are to include, but not limited to, Chiropractic, Dental, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Pre-Med, Medical Research Nursing, Nutrition, and Radiology. 

USI PRESIDENTIAL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this award must be enrolled full time during the fall and spring semesters and be an entering freshman or upperclass student who meets the requirements to participate in Edinboro University honors program. Preference should be given to students who are actively participating in the Honors Program. This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the student remains in the honors program and maintains an overall cumulative QPA of 3.30 or better. This scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and spring semester. Financial need is not a factor. 

VERIZON HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

This annual scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman enrolled in the Edinboro University Honors Program.  The recipient must be enrolled full-time and be "unconditionally" accepted by the Edinboro University Honors Program. This is a non-renewable scholarship.  Financial need is a factor.

DR. ROBERT C. WEBER DOLLARS FOR HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of the University Honors Program.  Freshmen must have graduated in the top 20% of their high school class, have a minimum SAT score of 1140 or an ACT score of 28, and have had a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a college preparatory curriculum.  Upperclassmen must have a 3.5 minimum QPA. 

JULIA WOOD-SMITH HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of the University Honors Program.  Financial need is a factor.
