**ATTENTION IMPORTANT PRAXIS AND PECT TEST CHANGES**
1. Old program students may continue to take PPST and Praxis until August 2013.
2. New program students who took Praxis test (I and II) BEFORE April 2, 2012 will not need to take new tests.
3. If a student does not pass a praxis test, s/he should retake the old test rather than taking the new tests (even if you are a new program student) until August 2013.

Test News
New Assessments for New Programs
Modular format tests designed for new program areas will be available April 2, 2012. The format allows a candidate to retake a section instead of the entire assessment. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
The Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests (PECT), administered by Pearson Evaluation Systems, will be used for:
Grades PreK-4: Core and Professional Knowledge
Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA): Reading, Writing and Mathematics
Special Education PreK-8
Special Education 7-12
The Praxis tests, administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) will be used for:
- Pennsylvania Grades 4-8: Core Assessment, Core Assessment Pedagogy, Core Assessment English Language Arts and Social Studies, Core Assessment Mathematics and Science (5152)
- PLUS the concentration area modules
Subject Concentration English Language Arts (5156)
Subject Concentration Social Studies (5157)
Subject Concentration Mathematics (5158)
Subject Concentration Science (5159)
- Administrators have new required tests as of April 2, 2012 also:Principals: School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) test code 1011 or 6011Superintendents: School Superintendent Assessment (SSA) will replace test code 1020.
The School Leaders Licensure Assessment is currently accepted in lieu of the Educational Leadership (0411) test.
New Program Test Subsitutes until April 2, 2012
PPST tests (Reading, Writing and Mathematics) PLUS
- PreK-4: Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge test 0511 and Early Childhood Education test 0020
- Grades 4-8: Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge test 0511 and Elementary Education: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment test 0011. Praxis II content area tests(s) for 7-9 Middle Level areas.
- Special Education PreK-8: Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge test 0511 and Special Education Core Content Knowledge and Application test 0354.
- Special Education 7-12: Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge test 0511; Special Education Core Content Knowledge and Application test 0354; and Praxis II content area test(s).

The Educational Testing Services (ETS) established updated test codes and qualifying scores for replacement tests. The old tests will not be administered after the summer of 2011.

Reporting Site for Tests: Wiley Arts & Sciences Center, room 117
You may be directed to a different location for testing, please allow additional travel time (approximately 10 minutes). There will be lists posted in Wiley Arts & Sciences Center of specific test locations. Compare your admission slip with the list to determine your specific test site. Questions can be directed to testing staff in Wiley.
