***NEW GPA-Qualifying Praxis Score Chart***
See link below for new Qualifying Praxis Scores pertaining to student GPA:
Required Praxis Tests
Students must earn the qualifying scores on Praxis I tests to be eligible for certification:
Reading- 172
Writing- 173
Mathematics- 173
-OR-
A second method of accomplishing the basic skills testing requirements will now be available through achieving a composite/summary test score of 521, provided that the following individual PPST I test scores are met:
Reading - 169 minimum
Writing - 170 minimum
Mathematics - 170 minimum
Composite total required - 521
For example, an individual with strong math skills may have scored 178 in the PPST Math, a score of 172 in Reading and a score of 171 in Writing. This student would meet the Praxis I composite test requirement as the composite score of 521 was met and no individual test score was under the required score minimum.
Retaking Praxis Tests
To retake the Praxis tests, you will need to follow the same steps previously completed to register for the test. The registration fee is only assessed once per "test year" which runs September to July. When registering to retake a Praxis test you will be responsible to pay all test fees (and any late fees if applicable). You will be responsible to pay the registration fee again ONLY IF you are retaking a test during a NEW test year.
FREE Praxis Re-test Information
For individuals to be eligible for a free re-test certificate, they must:
- have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
- have missed the passing score by no more than 3 points
- have attempted to pass the test no more than twice
Students must download the registration form from ETS website, complete the registration form, bring it into the Office of the Dean of Education, and complete the re-test form. If all conditions are met, the re-test form will be signed and forwarded with the registration form to ETS by the Dean’s office.
**Candidates will be limited to 2 certificates per individual test over the course of their testing history.
