Professor Clerkin taught Secondary English for 14 years at Port Allegany Jr/Sr High School, was English Department Chairperson, and was a Behavior Specialist Consultant at Dr. Gertrude A. Barber National Institute. She has also been on the Erie Playhouse Youth theater Board of Directors and has assistant directed two mainstage productions for the Playhouse. Additionally, she played the flute in the pit orchestra for Gannon University's Camelot.
