Eligibility for an Assistantship
Approximately 120 competitive graduate assistantships are available each year. Full time students who have been accepted into a master's degree program are eligible. Assistantships are awarded by the School of Graduate Studies & Research based primarily on the recommendations of the program head. Students who are employed full-time at the University or elsewhere are ineligible. The following must be met in order to be eligible for assistantship:
- Acceptance into a graduate program,
- Enrollment for full-time study (9 credits) and
- Acceptance by the director of the office where assigned.
PLEASE NOTE: Effective with the Fall 2011 semester, full-time graduate assistantships will only cover 9 credits towards tuition per semester. If a GA enrolls in more than 9 credits (15 credits a semester is the maximum a GA can schedule) they must cover additional tuition costs at their own expense.
