- Graduate Research Opportunities
The Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs will hold annually a grant competition for graduate students. The awards will provide funding for your non-class research project. It is expected that the research should be completed within the Spring and Summer semesters each year.

The RISE Program priorities for students:
- are innovative and will add to the knowledge of an applicant’s discipline
- will results in an external scholarly presentation, demonstration, publication, or exhibition
- are in addition to course required projects
Fundable projects must have a well-defined research design or goal. All applications must conform to all pertinent Commonwealth and Federal requirements (see especially item 7 in the checklist). All projects are expected to be completed within 2 semesters. The maximum possible award for student applications is $300.
Acceptable expenses are:
- Supplies
- Travel
- Animals
- Equipment
Successful applicants receiving awards will present their research at the Dean’s Research Colloquium which will be held during the Fall semester each year. Additionally, the awardee will submit a report electronically to the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs after he/she completed the project.
