Human Subjects Protection Program

Human Subjects Protection Program

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is designed to review, approve initiation of, and conduct periodic review of all research projects involving human subjects conducted by EUP faculty, students, or staff (including collaborative projects with other institutions and agencies).

All research that involves human subjects must be reviewed by the IRB committee, for they are the only entity at EUP that holds the authority to make a decision on the request.  The process will take approximately three weeks and involves a few simple steps.

1. You must have completed the CITI training prior to submitting a protocol

2. All submissions must use the IRB form and be forwarded to the Grants and Sponsored Programs (GSP) office for administrative review.  For project description clarification, click here.

3. Once the administration is review finds that the protocol is complete, the protocol will be forwarded to the IRB for consideration

4. The IRB will make a determination and inform GSP.

5. GSP will complete the administrative requirements and inform the investigator

The IRB meets once each month to review all completed proposals. In order to be considered, completed proposals are due to GSP by noon on the last working day of the month prior to the next IRB meeting.
