Mandatory Field Meeting

If you plan on taking HPE 405 Junior Field or HPE 406 Worksite Field Experience in the Spring 2015 semester, you are required to attend ONE of the informational meetings:

Option 1: Wednesday, September 17, 8:00 AM in the HPE Computer Lab

Option 2: Thursday, September 18, 2:30 PM in the HPE Computer Lab

You must attend one of these meetings to be allowed to register for Junior Field/Worksite Field Experience for the Spring 2015 semester.

Scholarship Opportunity

Edinboro University Health and Physical Education Triathlon Scholarship

Students are eligible through participation in the Edinboro Triathlon!


 WHO QUALIFIES?

  • The student will be eligible through participation in the Edinboro Triathlon as an entrant or as a volunteer.
  • The student must be a Health and Physical Education major, have earned 30 credits and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • The successful candidate must provide evidence of professionally-based, extra-curricular involvement in Edinboro University activities.
  • The successful candidate must submit a completed scholarship application by the designated date, along with an essay that addresses why the scholarship applicant believes he/she is deserving of the scholarship as well as a statement of their professional aspirations.


HOW TO APPLY:

The Edinboro University Health and Physical Education Triathlon Scholarship selection committee will determine the most qualified applicant this semester, and the award will be applied in the fall.  If you meet the criteria as noted above and would like to be considered for this award, please complete the scholarship application and required essay, and return it to the Health and Physical Education Office no later than 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 16, 2014.


Mandatory Internship Meeting

If you plan on doing your internship during Spring or Summer 2015, you are required to attend ONE of the internship meetings:

Option 1: Wednesday, September 17, 9:00 AM in the Human Performance Lab

Option 2: Thursday, September 18, 1:00 PM in the Human Performance Lab

If you are not available to attend EITHER of the following meetings, please contact Dr. Ruth Stauffer.


Dustin Thomas Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Former Edinboro University cross country and track & field standout Dustin Thomas has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. He becomes just the fourth Edinboro student-athlete to earn an NCAA postgraduate scholarship and one of 29 male student-athletes selected from the approximately 150,000 NCAA student-athletes competing in spring NCAA sports nationally across all three NCAA divisions. 

Thomas was a Health & Physical Education-Teacher Certification major with a 3.97 GPA. He was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country First Team. Earlier in the year he was the recipient of the 2014 AAHPERD Major of the Year Award.

HPE Student Tabitha Bemis Speaks at Women to Women Event

Tabitha Bemis, a Sports & Recreation Administration major, was a featured speaker at the Women to Women event on September 4. Women to Women was an event hosted by the Edinboro University Women’s Philanthropy Council to build relationships with other women, support women and mentor the next generation of women leaders.

Tabitha was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Women’s Track/Cross Country Team for the third time. She is the recipient of the Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete Awards, a three-time Academic All-American; a six-time PSAC Top Ten honoree (the first person in PSAC history to receive the honor six times); a six-time All-American plus the PSAC Athlete of the Year and USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year.
