Linda Mukina Felker
Associate Professor

 Dr. Felker has been a member of the HPE department faculty since 1990.  She currently serves as a member of the EUP senate, SOE School Council, Phi Epsilon Kappa advisor, and is co-director of the Highlands Center for Faculty Initiatives. She was honored as Outstanding Health Professional (2001) for the Eastern District AAHPERD, named PSAHPERD Health Educator of the Year (2000); and served PSAHPERD as Vice President for Health (2002). She has delivered more than 50 presentations at state, national, and international conferences, and secured grant money from the CDC and PDE to deliver HIV/AIDS curriculum training workshops to public school teachers across Pennsylvania.

Teaching Interests: Methods of teaching PE in the elementary school, women's wellness, wellness/activity courses, and personal and community health.

Research Interests: Youth risk behaviors, women's health issues, best practices in health and physical education.

Affiliations & Organizations:  American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; Phi Kappa Phi; Phi Epsilon Kappa (advisor for the Delta X Chapter).

Presentations & Publications: Numerous presentations at the national, regional, and state levels. Recently presented at the Hawaii International Conference on Education, "Making Health Education Active Through Digital Games," Honolulu, HI, (2004)

Presented "Reducing the Risk" HIV/AIDS curriculum training workshops for health educators across the Commonwealth for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, (1996-2002).  As Vice President for Health for PSAHPERD, initiated and edited the "...To Your Health!!"  Column of instructional strategies for the PSAHPERD Journal.

Honors and Awards: Eastern District Association of AAHPERD "Outstanding Health Professional of 2001"; PSAHPERD "Pennsylvania Health Educator of the Year, 2000"; PSAHPERD Professional Honor Award, 1999.

Other Personal Information:  Enjoys skiing (downhill and cross country), playing tennis, biking, jogging, and traveling with family.
