Dr. Laura Miller
Department Chairperson/Professor

Dr. Miller has been a member of the HPE department faculty since 1999 and currently serves as the Chairperson to the department. She has co-authored many new courses and curricula for the department, and serves as Program Coordinator for the Health Promotion degree concentration.  She serves a Consulting Editor for the Journal of American College Health.  Her recent awards include being named as the 2014 PSAHPERD Health Teacher of the Year (University level), the 2012 Edinboro University Advisor of the Year, and nominee for the 2013 Edinboro University Advisor of the Year.  Dr. Miller is committed to improving the quality of living for students and the University community.

Research Interests:  Health Behavior, Relationship Violence, and Emergency Contraception


Affiliations & Organizations:  American College Health Association.  Society of Health and Physical Educators (formerly known as the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance).  American Association of Health Education.  Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.

Presentations & Publications:  Dr. Miller presented at the conferences of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the National Social Science Association, and the American College of Sports Medicine Mid-Atlantic Region.  Presentation topics include stress management, health behavior and behavior change, female body image, emergency contraception, relationship violence, and consumer issues in health.  Dr. Miller had articles published in the Journal of American College Health, Journal of Family Violence, Contraception, and the Pennsylvania Journal of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
