Allen Howell teaches music education courses, supervises music student teachers and field students, conducts the University Women's Chorus, conducts the University Men’s Chorus, and teaches freshman Aural Skills. His latest article, Curricular Pillars in the Elementary General Music Classroom was published in the March 2009 Music Educators Journal (Vol. 95, no. 3).
He received the degree Doctor of Musical Arts with specializations in music education and choral conducting from the University of Oregon. During his time at UO, he was a Graduate Teaching Fellow and conducted the Youth Choir of the Oregon Children's Choir. The Master of Arts in Teaching degree was completed at Portland State University, Portland, Oregon and the Bachelor of Arts degree was completed at Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington.
