Applied Violin

Education

B.A., Michigan State University

Howard Lyon holds a degree in applied music from Michigan StateUniversity in East Lansing. He played in the Lansing, Battle Creek, and Kalamazoo symphonies and was a charter member of the Olivet College Chamber Music Players. He plays violin in the Erie Philharmonic and since 1978 has served as concertmaster of the Erie Chamber Orchestra. He coaches the Erie Junior Philharmonic String Ensemble. He was a member of the Perry String Quartet for twenty-seven years, and since 2007 a member of Lake Erie String Quartet. He has taught violin/viola at Edinboro University since 1982.
