The Edinboro University Composer's Club is a group of students dedicated to the composition of music. With Dr. David Denton as the advisor, Andy Frank as Student President and Seth Howell as Vice President, the club is not only open to music mjaors, but anyone who has an interest in writing music from the simplest melody, to the most innovative harmonies. It is not to be mistaken for a Music Theory club, as technical understanding of Classical music is not required.
On and off campus organizations can turn to the club as an original music resource, and while individual student compositions are often reviewed and critiqued for music's sake alone, students also collaborate to develop music for those outside the club who seek it. Animation soundtracks, recital pieces, radio music; you name it, they'll make it. You do not have to be a composer to join: Performing musicians, composers and music enthusiasts alike are all welcome.
For over a century, Sinfonians in nearly every field of study and professional endeavor have transformed the face of music in American society. Today, the brotherhood represents a diverse group of individuals spanning the nation, who continue the proud tradition of advancing the Fraternity's object: the development of the best and truest fraternal spirit; the mutual welfare and brotherhood of musical students; the advancement of music in America and a loyalty to the Alma Mater.
We are the Lambda Gamma Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. We are located at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and were founded on May 2, 1976. We are a very active chapter, striving to further our social, musical, and philanthropic contributions throughout the community.
The national music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda selects and recognizes, through election to membership, music students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and musicianship. Following the guidelines outlined in the constitution of the society, faculty members of the local chapter nominate and elect to membership one or more students from the junior and senior classes who are in the top 10-20% of their class.
Pi Kappa Lambda was established in 1918. Since 1941 the Society of Pi Kappa Lambda has held full membership in the Association of College Honor Societies and is represented on the Executive Council of the Association.
The KAPPA EPSILON chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda was established at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2009. Faculty members of the Kappa Epsilon chapter are: Dr. David Denton, Dr. Kristine Denton, Dr. Gary Grant, Dr. Allen "Kit" Howell, Dr. Patrick Jones, Dr. Peter van den Honert, and Ms. LeAnne Wistrom.
