This ensemble is required of guitar majors, and open to other students with appropriate guitar capabilities.
The purpose of the guitar ensemble is to develop collaborative and reading skills, and to learn a cross section of the repertory. Students work in ensembles of two or more guitars. Upperclassmen will also work in collaborative contexts with other instruments, with particular emphasis on accompanying flute and voice. The guitar ensemble class meets once weekly, and ensemble members also meet to rehearse outside of class hours. The guitar ensemble performs once a semester on campus, and performance opportunities off campus are often available as well.
