AUDITION REQUIREMENTS-OBOE

Recommended or acceptable pieces for entrance examination:

Telemann, G.P. “Concerto in F min”, Albinoni “Concerto”, Schumann “Three Romances”, Baird, Kenneth “Shadow Dance and Lament”, Bellini-Peters “Concerto in Eb”, Marcello, Benedetto “Concerto in C min”, Lenom, Clement “Musette”, Handel “Sonata no. 1”, Saint Saens “Sonata”, Vivaldi “Concerto”

 Etudes:

Barrett “Grand Study”, Ferling “48 Etudes”,

 Scales:

Major scales up to four sharps and four flats. Knowledge of minor scales are a plus.

 Technique that the student should demonstrate:

Proper tone from low Bb to high D above the staff.

Music can be purchased from:

 Other:

Basically, you should demonstrate fast as well as slow, lyrical playing. The pieces listed above are just suggestions.  Any piece similar in level is also acceptable.

A sonata from Galliard, J.E., Telemann, G.P. “Sonata in F min”, Weber, C.M. von “Concerto”, Weissenborn, J. “Capriccio”,  Vivaldi “Concerto in A min”, Bach any Cello Suite, Dunhill “Lyric Suite”

 Etudes:

Weissenborn “Fifty Advanced Studies”, Ozi “42 Caprices”, Milde “Concert Studies”

 Scales:

Major scales up to four sharps and four flats. Knowledge of minor scales are a plus.

 Technique that the student should demonstrate:

Chromatic scale from low B-flat to the top of the student’s range

 Music can be purchased from:

 Other:

Basically, you should demonstrate fast as well as slow, lyrical playing. The pieces listed above are just suggestions.  Any piece similar in level is also acceptable.
