Recommended or acceptable pieces for entrance examination and Scales:
Snare Drum: 1.)performance of a solo or etude demonstating the 26 Standard American Drum Rudiments. Performance of selected rudiments may also be requested. 2.)performance of an etude from Goldenberg's Modern School for Snare Drum, Albright's Contemporary Studies for the Snare Drum, or Cirone's Portraits in Rhythm.
Mallet Keyboard: 1.) Major Scales up to four sharps and four flats. (two octaves) 2.) A two-mallet etude from Goldenberg's Modern School for Xylophone 3.) (optional) A four mallet solo piece.
Timpani: (optional). A solo piece or etude from a method book such as Goodman's Modern Method for Timpani.
