SERVICE FEES

Personal Care - In order to calculate personal care charges you would use the following formula: Numberof units (personal care units needed per week - see PC rating sheet below) x $38.00 per unit x 15 weeks

 
1)     (1.25 units) Students living in Towers Hall who frequently ask for assistance with getting books and assistance with organizing rooms. 

2)     (6.25 units) Full bowel routine:  This involves transferring student to shower chair and doing complete routine either involving enema or digital stimulation and extraction.  It also involves clean-up.

3)    (5 units) Partial bowel routine:  This involves assisting student in transferring and assisting student with routine.  This involves assisting student with any equipment and clean-up.

4)     (2.5 units) Male catheterization: A routine urine clean cath. or sterile catheterization.  This is done on a routine every four to six hours.

5)    (3.75 units) Female catheterization:  This involves transferring student to bed.  Routine every six hours. This involves a sterile procedure.

6)     (1.25 units) Catheter care:  To cleanse around catheter as necessary to prevent infection and skin breakdown.

7)     (1.25 units) Emptying leg bags:  This involves emptying leg bags as often as necessary.

8)     (5 units) Laundry and room cleaning:  This involves doing laundry and room cleaning once a week and emergency loads as necessary.

9)     (2.5 units) Personal hygiene:  This involves brushing teeth, shaving, nailcare, etc.

10)  (6.25 units) Full shower:  This involves transfer to shower chair.  Student needs to be completely assisted in the shower.

11)  (3.75 units) Assist shower:  This involves minimal assistance in the shower.  Assist with back and legs.

12)  (2.5 units) Make-up and hair styling:  This involves washing hair and applying make-up upon student request.

13)  (3.75 units) Dressing:  This involves completely dressing student from head to toe.

14)  (2.5 units) Assist dressing:  This involves assisting with shoes, socks, zippering and buttoning.  Helping with the final touch.

15)  (1.25 units) Administration of medication:  This involves helping students with disabilities take medication.

16)  (1.25 units) Assist with snacks:  Help students with snacks, soft drinks, or fruit juices as necessary.

17)  (1.25 units) Turning in bed:  Assist student to turn in bed at night as necessary.

18)  (1.25 units) Menstrual needs:  This involves application and removal of sanitary napkins or tampons.

19)  (2.5 units) Range of motion:  This involves taking a person's joint and doing flexion and extension to prevent joints from becoming stiff and inflexible.

20)  (3.0 units) Daily living  support/maintenance: Oxygen, CPAP, and Tube Feeding. 

21)  (3.75 units) Non-verbal 

22)  (1.25 units) Devices:  Broken wheelchair, missing or broken orthotics.  The charge for devices will be added only as the need arises and will be charged weekly and billed on a monthly basis. 

 23). (3.5 units) Service dogs: Feeding, walking, waste clean-up.

 

Van Transportation - $3,000.00 per semester or $200.00 per week

The vans are also available, but at an extra cost, for internships,extra-curricular activities and prearranged trips.  These trips would be charged at $.44/mile and $18.00/hour on weekdays and $27.00/hour on weekends.

Wheelchair maintenance - $450.00 per student

Parts over $20.00 each will be billed to the student.

Hospital Bed Rental - $300.00 per semester 

Based upon availability of beds.

Please note: Personal Care Attendant services are provided on the first floor of Lawrence Towers only. There may be limited rooms available each semester. All students must complete housing forms throgh the Residence Life and Housing Office to obtain rooms in Lawrence Towers. A room on the first floor of Lawrence Towers cannot be guaranteed. In the event all rooms are full, a wait list will be started. Housing is done on a first contract-first housed basis.
