Cadet Bios

Cadet Battalion Commander Joel Natalie

Cadet Natalie hails from Erie, PA. He joined Edinboro ROTC during his fourth year and became a contracted cadet in 2013. During Cadet Natalie’s time in the program, he has earned the Military Order of the Purple Heart National Leadership Award, the National Society of the American Revolution Silver ROTC Medal, and was ranked first in his platoon at LDAC 2014. He is a Health and Physical Education major and has been on the Dean’s List for four semesters. Cadet Natalie hopes to serve as an Infantry Officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Natalie serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the Cadet Battalion Commander.

 

Cadet Command Sergeant Major Zachary Barnes

Cadet Zachary Barnes hails from Saegertown, PA. He joined Edinboro ROTC during his Freshman year and contracted that same year. During Cadet Barnes’ time in the program, he has completed the Basic Airborne Course and attended CULP in Romania the summer of 2013. He is a Sociology major and has qualified for the Dean’s List each semester throughout his time at Edinboro University. Cadet Barnes hopes to serve as an Infantry officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Barnes serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the Cadet Command Sargent Major.

 

Cadet Executive Officer Melia Brocious

Cadet Melia Brocious hails from Kane, PA. She joined Edinboro ROTC during her Sophomore year and became a contracted cadet in 2013 after attending LTC, where she received an award for the top female PT score in the company as well as the Bold Leader award. During Cadet Brocious' time in the program, Cadet Brocious has earned the Cadet Scholar Award, Silver Metal Athlete and multiple Bronze Metal Athlete Awards,  as well as the Battalion Commander's Athletic Award. She is a Biology Pre-med major with a Chemistry minor. Cadet Brocious hopes to serve as a Military Police Officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Brocious serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the XO.

 

 

Cadet S1 Thomas Einwechter 

Cadet Thomas Einwechter hails from Palmyra, PA. He joined Edinboro ROTC during his Sophomore year and became a contracted cadet in 2013. During Cadet Einwechter’s time in the program, he has participated in the ROTC Club and been a member of the Army Ten Miler team.  He is a Business major. Cadet Einwechter hopes to serve as an Aviation officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Einwechter serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S1.

 

Cadet S2 Brittney Aston

Cadet Brittney Aston hails from Pittsburgh, PA. She joined Edinboro ROTC during her Freshman year and became a contracted cadet in 2012. She is a Criminal Justice major. During Cadet Aston’s time in the program, she has earned an AAM Medal from the PA National Guard. She is also a member of the Pittsburgh Passion women’s football team. Cadet Aston hopes to serve as a Quartermaster or Ordnance officer in the National Guard Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Aston serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S2.

 

Cadet S3 Victoria Filbert

Cadet Filbert hails from Allegany, NY. She joined Edinboro ROTC after attending Leader’s Training Camp in the summer of 2013 and contracted later that fall. During Cadet Filbert’s time in the program she has served as Captain of the Ranger Challenge Team. Cadet Filbert is majoring in Biology. During her time as an Edinboro ROTC Cadet, she has been a member of the Robert C. Weber Honors Program, the Women’s Varsity Softball team, the Pre-Healing Arts Club, and has been involved in independent research through the Biology Department. Cadet Filbert hopes to serve as an Medical Services Officer in the Active Component of the Army and continue on to the Army PA program. Currently, Cadet Filbert serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S3.

 

Cadet S3 Sergeant Major Jordan Wisniewski

Cadet Jordan Wisniewski hails from Meadville, PA. He joined Edinboro ROTC during his Freshman year and became a contracted cadet in 2012. During Cadet Wisniewski’s time in the program, he has graduated from Air Assault School, participated in CTLT at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, and maintains the Battalion standard for the highest PT score. He is a Criminal Justice major and has earned the Dean's List each semester at Edinboro and is a member of the Criminal Justice Honor Society. Cadet Wisniewski hopes to serve as a Military Intelligence Officer with an Infantry Detail, in the Active Duty Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Wisniewski serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S3 Sergeant Major.

 

Cadet S3A Jonathan Gettinger

Cadet Jonathan Gettinger hails from Creighton, PA. He joined Edinboro ROTC during his Freshman year and became a contracted cadet in 2011. He is a History major and has earned membership in the Edinboro Honor’s society. Cadet Gettinger hopes to serve as a Military Intelligence Officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Gettinger serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S3A.

 

Cadet S4 Shelby Welsh

Cadet Shelby Welsh hails from Pittsburgh, PA. She joined Edinboro ROTC during her Freshman year and became a contracted cadet in 2012. During Cadet Welsh's time in the program, she has received the Platinum Athlete Award, the Gold Medal Athlete Award, the Cadet Scholar Award, and the ROTC Honors Award. She is Biology (Pre-Med) major. Cadet Welsh hopes to serve as a Chemical Officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Welsh serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S4.

 

Cadet S4A Natalya Kimble

Cadet Natalya Kimble hails from Meadville, PA. She joined Edinboro ROTC during her Junior year and became a contracted cadet in 2012. During Cadet Kimble's time in the program, she has participated in Ranger Challenge and CULP. She received several achievement ribbons for academics, participation in Color Guard and APFT score. She is a Business Administration - Accounting major. Cadet Kimble hopes to serve as a Military Intelligence Officer in the National Guard Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Kimble serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S4A.

 

Cadet S6/PAO Jacqueline Coplen

Cadet Jacqueline Coplen hails from Carlisle, PA. She is a Political Science and Spanish double major at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. She joined Edinboro ROTC during her Freshman Year and became a contracted cadet in 2012. During Cadet Coplen's time in the program, she has served as the Captain of the Army Ten Miler team and has been the recipient of numerous awards, to include the Military Officers Association of America Medal, the American Legion Award, the Cadet Scholar Award, the Battalion Commander's Athletic Award, and the Platinum Athletic Award. She also attended CTLT at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. In addition to ROTC, Cadet Coplen is a Fellow at Allegheny's Center for Political Participation, a decorated member of Allegheny's Equestrian Team, member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and a member of two academic honor societies. She has also been on the Dean's List every semester. Cadet Coplen hopes to serve as a Judge Advocate General Officer in the Active Component of the Army. Currently, Cadet Coplen serves the Edinboro Fighting Scots Battalion as the S6/Public Affairs Officer.
