- EMPLOYER GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT EMPLOYMENT
1. Students work hours may not exceed fifteen (15) hours per week during periods of enrollment.
2. Student work hours may not exceed thirty-seven and a half hours per week during periods of non-enrollment.
3. All students must receive Financial Aid authorization before starting work.
4. Students seeking employment must complete the FAFSA unless overridden by Financial Aid (i.e. international students).
5. Students who complete their FAFSA by March 15th will receive a work award of either Federal Work Study or Institutional Work and will be listed on the “Eligible to Hire List”. Students may receive a student employment award if it is determined that no other eligible student is available is on the list.
6. Students must be enrolled at least six credits for student employment in a degree program for during the Fall and Spring semesters.
7. Dual employment maybe permitted; however, students seeking a first position have priority over students seeking a second position unless employed via auxiliary services. Students with multiple jobs may not exceed 15 hours per week from all work positions.
8. Federal work study students have priority for placement
9. Departments who want to hire early may do so for FWS eligible students only. Undergraduate FWS students have award priority over other students.
10. Students seeking employment will access their portal and review the current positions available under the “Student Employment” tab.
12. Nepotism - Department supervisors should not hire family members.
13. Students should be evaluated by their supervisor once per semester.
14. Students who decline their employment award forfeit the opportunity to work on campus for the academic year.
