Final Exam Information
- Final Exam Information
Comprehensive final examinations are given only during the designated examination period of each term. They are scheduled by the University and not by the individual instructor.
Comprehensive final examinations will not be given during the week preceding the designated exam period for each term. Make-up examinations and/or non-comprehensive final exams previously scheduled on the syllabus may be given.
Students with special needs should make arrangements with their instructors.
FINAL EXAMINATION WEEK FOR EACH SEMESTER IS SPECIFIED ON THE UNIVERSITY CALENDAR.
All examinations or alternate methods of evaluation will be given in the same room in which the course normally meets during the semester. Classes that use several rooms during the semester will have their final examination in the room in which they hold their first class of the week.
ABSENCE FROM FINAL EXAMINATIONS OR ALTERNATE METHODS: Absence from an examination or alternate method due to a medical emergency must be supported by a medical excuse. It is the student's responsibility to notify the professor involved prior to exam time and supply the professor with a written medical excuse.
Final exam periods are 120 minutes in length for each 3-credit lecture component for a course. Lab components are excluded. Art studio courses will have two 120-minute final exam periods.
The starting time of the class determines the final exam day and time. For example: If one course meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00-8:50AM and another course meets Monday and Wednesday from 8:00-9:20AM, both would have the same final exam time of Monday from 8:00-10:00AM. Courses starting after the class hours listed will follow the exam times for the prior hour. For example, a class held from 8:30-10:30AM will use the 8AM exam period.
Examination hours for classes involving lecture and laboratories are determined by the hours scheduled for the lecture.
Examinations for classes that begin and end on dates different from the start and end dates for the standard 15-week semester (including Saturday classes) will be given during the last regular class periods.
Day classes that meet only once a week will have final exams on that day.
Questions concerning the final exam schedule, and requests for room reservations for final examinations, should be referred to the Office of Records and Registration, 732-3501.
FALL and SPRING FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE
POSTPONED EXAMINATIONS: If final exams and alternate methods have to be postponed by the Administration, those examinations will be held on the Friday and Saturday of final exam week. If the Administration has to postpone finals or alternate methods, the announcements will be communicated via email, website, local radio stations and in residence halls.
FINAL EXAMINATION PUBLICITY: The final exams are included in the Master Class Schedule and can be viewed on myEdinboro, SCOTS.
ROOM CHANGE: Any professor who must have his/her room changed for the final examination or alternate method of evaluation should notify the Office of Records and Registration in writing within one month of the beginning of the semester.
CONFLICTS: Every attempt has been made to make this schedule conflict-free. If a student has two examinations scheduled at the same time or more than three examinations in one day, the student should try to resolve the conflict with the instructors involved. If the problem cannot be resolved, the final for the class with the highest course number will be rescheduled.
