The Campus Outdoor Recreational Experience (C.O.R.E.) mission is to provide quality recreational activities to the Edinboro University student body regardless of skill level or ability. The primary focus is to teach students of all backgrounds, who may never have participated in in such activities, the skills and confidence necessary to complete the activity in such a manner that they will continue to participate and challenge themselves in the future.
CORE is responsible for a number of recreational activities both on and off campus. First and foremost, we are the primary operators of the university’s rock climbing gym. Throughout the semester, we hold a number of climbing competitions and activities for both beginners and experts alike. Check out the rock Climbing Gym webpage for more details!
Aside from working in the rock climbing gym, we also host a number of off campus adventure activities. Those activities include everything from mountain biking and camping to skiing and skydiving. Not only are these activities a fun way to get off campus and meet some new people, but our trips are offered at an extremely discounted rate! Check out the Spring 2015 Weekend Trips here!
Looking to host your own outdoor adventure? Look no further! CORE also has an extensive arsenal of outdoor equipment that is available to rent free of charge with your student ID. (Please note that rental charges still apply for non-students - i.e. alumni and community members). Click here for the full list of Equipment Rentals and Prices!
Last, but most certainly not least, the CORE staff is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the university’s high and low ropes challenge course. Incorporating activities like the Giant Swing, Leap of Faith, and Zip Line, the Edinboro University Challenge Course is an excellent team building and personal exploration activity for participants of any age. Check out the Challenge Course webpage for more details!
CORE’s center of operation is based out of the university’s rock climbing gym. Not only is this where you will come to climb, but this is where you come to rent equipment and sign up for weekend trips as well. The climbing gym is located in the Fitness Center of the Pogue Student Center (lower level), in the back hallway by the racquetball courts. Our staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you may have. Stop in with any questions or to check out what we have to offer!
