Requirements

 Student Teaching Requirements - as per the University Catalog

  • Have Teacher Candidacy (further information available on the School of Education site)
  • Pass Praxis II Tests:

     - Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge - for K-6 and K-12 only, not Secondary Education (7-12)
     - Specialty Area Test - dependent upon major(s). See your department for the specific test name or test code.
     - Please note that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has not yet determined which tests will be required for new certififcation areas (Early Childhood, Early Childhood and Special Education, Middle Levels). 

  • Attend required student teaching orientation meetings at the beginning of the semester prior to your planned student teaching semester,  in September for Spring student teaching and in February for Fall student teaching.  Students should receive an email alerting them to the coming meetings.
  • Complete required courses and field experiences in major with a letter grade of "C" or better
  • Submit a Student Teaching Prerequisite Form and required attachments to the Office of Student Teaching and Student Assistance (Miller 111).  This packet must be submitted by the due date in the semester prior to student teaching and must include:

     - Student Teaching Prerequisite Form

     - Student Teaching Information Form

     - Student Teaching Application

     - Act 34 Criminal Record Check - valid through the end of student teaching

     - Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance - valid through the end of student teaching

     - Act 114 - Federal Criminal History Record (fingerprinting)

     - TB Test - valid through the end of student teaching

     - Copy of Praxis I & II scores (passed)
