Dr. Donald Dilmore


 Donald H. Dilmore is the Associate Vice President for University Libraries at Edinboro University.  In this role Don is responsible for the operation of the library including its collection of approximately 500,000 bound volumes, more than 1.4 million microforms and its extensive and growing offerings of online resources including access to thousands of journals.

Don serves on the President's Council and the Deans Council.  During the 1997 academic year Don also served as Acting Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and during the 1998 and 1999 academic years he served as Assistant Vice President for Academic Programs.  He currently serves on various campus committees and organizations including the Library Information Services Committee of the University Senate, Friends of the Baron-Forness Library, the Dr. James Drane Bioethics Institute and the Educator of the Year Committee.

Before he came to Edinboro University in 1992 Don was Assistant Director of Libraries at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, Reference Librarian and Acting Library Director at Houghton College and he worked in various areas of library service at other liberal arts colleges in Kentucky and New York State. 

Don holds an MLS and a PhD in library service from Rutgers University, an MBA from St. Bonaventure University and a BA in English Literature from Wheaton College (IL).  He was Graduate Teaching Assistant in the MLS program while he completed his doctoral course work at Rutgers. 

Don is involved in a number of library organizations including the American Library Association and the Association of College and Research Libraries.  From 2004-2006 he served as chair of the steering committee for the Northwest Interlibrary Cooperative of Pennsylvania.  He also served in a number of capacities with the State System of Higher Education Library Council, including service as chair from 2003-2005.  In 2001-02 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of PALINET, an organization that serves hundreds of libraries in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and other mid-Atlantic states.  Currently he is a member of the Keystone Library Network Council. 

Don was a member of two Middle States Association visiting teams, including site visits to SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome in 2005 and SUNY College at Brockport in 2002. 

Don's community service includes participation with library faculty and staff in the "Adopt- A-Highway" program.  In addition he performs with his church bell choir and plays clarinet with the Concert Band of Northwest Pennsylvania.
