Dean of Education
Dr. Nomsa Geleta
Dr. Nomsa Geleta is the Dean of the School of Education. She joined the Edinboro University faculty in March of 2011, bringing 16 years of teaching experience and extensive research, grant-writing, and administrative records to the position.
Dr. Geleta previously chaired the Department of Education Specialties at Salisbury University in Maryland, overseeing all graduate programs in education, as well as secondary and K-12 programs. In addition to her administrative positions and years as a professor of education, she has also served as coordinator of international programs at Chadron State College and Oklahoma State University.
Having received a B.A. in history and Zulu from the University of Zululand, South Africa, Dr. Geleta went on to earn an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration, both from Oklahoma State University.
Dr. Geleta has extensive experience serving as a member of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and has traveled widely to present papers and workshops, many of them focused on teaching in diverse and multicultural settings. She is consistently active in education research, having been awarded over $1,500,000 in grants for research on improving teacher quality and educational mentorship programs.
Dr. Geleta enjoys listening to jazz and vacationing with family.
