As Vice President for Finance and Administration, Gordon Herbst assists the President in the overall direction and policy making of the University with particular leadership given to the areas of finance and budget, facilities, human resources, public safety, and contract management. He is responsible for comprehensive planning within the division, integrating budget, and planning in the development of systems of resource allocation. Mr. Herbst directs all aspects of finance at Edinboro, including accounting, budget management, and forecasting.
Mr. Herbst came to Edinboro in 1985 as a member of the Technology and Communications Department, where he worked for four years before transferring to Finance and Administration in 1989. He is particularly proud of having orchestrated Edinboro's migration through ever-evolving financial application software; from legacy accounting systems through Banner to SAP. The Pittsburgh native is a member of both the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers.
Active in the community, Mr. Herbst is currently on the board of the Flagship Niagara League, a locally operated, non-profit educational associate organization of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. When he is not busy directing Edinboro's financial operations, Mr. Herbst enjoys music, movies, photography, travel, and playing the guitar.
