Regional and National Fiddle Competitions



          Regional Fiddle Competition

          Competition will be held at the Edinboro Highland Games, in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center on the campus of Edinboro University on Friday, September 8, 2017. Sanctioned and Adjudicated by Scottish F.I.R.E. Ltd.

          Schedule

          5:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Registration, Frank G. Pogue Student Center Lobby

          6:00 p.m. – Fiddle Workshop with national judges, Elke Baker, Ryan McKasson and Dr. John Turner. This is open to competitors and non-competitors. Location: Frank G. Pogue Center Multipurpose Room

          7:00 p.m. 
          – Regional Competition, Frank G. Pogue Center Multipurpose Room

          Fiddle Judge: Ryan McKasson

          The competition will be operated under the rules of the SCOTTISH F.I.R.E. organization. For a listing of F.I.R.E. competition guidelines see the Scottish F.I.R.E. website at www.scottishfiddlingrevival.com

          Traditional Highland Dress is recommended for the Regional Open and Junior competitions. 
          Novice competitions will allow Modified Concert Dress, but Traditional Highland is recommended.

          Winners of the Open and Junior competition may be recommended to compete in the National Competition.

          National Fiddle Competition

          Competition will be held at the Edinboro Highland Games, in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center on the campus of Edinboro University on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Sanctioned and Adjudicated by Scottish F.I.R.E. Ltd.

          Schedule

          7:45 – 8:30 a.m. – Registration, Frank G. Pogue Student Center Lobby

          NOTE: There will be NO Field Registration for Junior and Open competitions. The deadline for registration is SEPT. 1, 2017.   Scottish FIRE membership renewals will be accepted. Checks only. No cash will be accepted.

          8:30 – 10:30 a.m. – Junior U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Competition, Frank G. Pogue Center Multipurpose Room

          12:30 – 3:00 p.m.  Open U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Competition, Frank G. Pogue Center Multipurpose Room

          3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Musician session in the gazebo (open to all)
