Concert Band of Northwest Pennsylvania Concert

Hirt Auditorium, Bayfront Parkway, ErieThe Concert Band of Northwest Pennsylvania will present its final concert of the 2012 Season on Sunday, Oct. 28, at 2:30 PM in Hirt Auditorium. The concert theme will be “The Musicians Would Like You to Hear…” as the members of the Band chose the music. Dr. Daniel Burdick of the EU Music faculty will be the euphonium soloist. Assitant conduct Greg Tower will be conducting. John Williams will be the featured composer with two of his motion picture scores, Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan. Classical music will be represented by “Light Cavalry Overture” by Franz von Suppe. There will be a surprising and fun composition from the pen of Dmitri Shostakovich. Among the march composers to be presented will be Kenneth J. Alford, Karl King and John Philip Sousa.
Admission is free and open to the public.

Branding is used to clearly identify your products and differentiate them from other companies, and helps to clearly communicate what your businiess is about quickly and in a meaningful manner. This seminar will include topics on: What is marketing? How important is your name? How to register your brands and protect them. How to emphasize your brand in advertising, promotion and selling. How to use a client list to be more successful.

Bookstore offers word-search prizes
Find words and win a prize through the Campus Bookstore’s Facebook page.
The bookstore is conducting a word search contest through Nov. 9. Three $75 gift cards to the store are on the line as prizes for the top scorers, but there’s a catch: The bookstore page has to reach 1,400 likes by the end of the contest for the prizes to grow that large.
The prizes will be $25 each if the likes reach 1,000 and $50 if they reach 1,200. The bookstore Facebook page had 813 likes as of Monday morning.
Everyone who enters the contest will receive a coupon good for 20 percent off any one clothing item.

The Music Department presents Song of Bohemia, featuring faculty member Jacqueline Black, violoncello and guest artist Dr. Grace Huang, piano, performing music of Martinu and Popper.
First Friday Concerts take place on the first Friday of most months that school is in session, 12:15 - 12:45 p.m., in the William P. Alexander Music Center Recital Hall. They feature faculty members of Edinboro University's music department. The concerts are free and open to the public.
Note: Although this is a lunchtime event, food and drink are not allowed in the recital hall but are allowed in the lobby.

Where you will be judged on a taught cheer, chant and the Edinboro Fight Dance. You will also be judged on motions, basic jumps, tumbling and stunting technique. Anyone with these qualities and a spirit for the Fighting Scots are welcome to attend.
