Popular major league baseball author to speak Oct. 14 at Edinboro University
EDINBORO, Pa. - Edinboro University alumni Richard "Pete" Peterson, renowned author of popular baseball books, will be the featured speaker Wednesday, Oct. 14, during the university's annual "Dinner and a Book" event.
Peterson, a 1965 graduate of Edinboro, is the author of "Growing up Clemente" and "Extra Innings: Writing on Baseball," and is the editor of "The Pirates Reader" and "The St. Louis Baseball Reader." He is also the editor of Kent State University Press' "Writing Sports" series, and his essays have appeared in the Chicago Tribune and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
"Dinner and a book" is sponsored by the Friends of the Baron-Forness Library, a volunteer campus organization that helps to financially support special library projects through various fund-raising efforts.
The Oct. 14 social will begin with a 5 p.m. reception, followed by the 6 p.m. buffet dinner and Peterson's presentation, both at Van Houten South Dining Hall. The cost of the evening is $20, which includes the cocktail reception, dinner, and five book raffle tickets. Checks should be made payable to the "Edinboro University Foundation." Copies of Peterson's books will be available for purchase at the Campus Bookstore in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center prior to the 5 p.m. reception.
