Council of Trustees members Kathy Pape, Daniel Higham reappointed

Pennsylvania Gov. Thomas Corbett has reappointed Kathy L. Pape, J.D., of Hampden Township, Pa., and Daniel E. Higham, of Meadville, Pa., to the Edinboro University Council of Trustees. Their nominations were confirmed by the state Senate on April 29 and June 3, respectively.

Pape is President of Pennsylvania American Water, the largest regulated water utility in the commonwealth and provider of water and wastewater services to about 2.2 million people in 390 communities. She is also Senior Vice President of American Water’s Mid-Atlantic Division, leading the parent company's subsidiaries in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Pennsylvania Business Council recently elected Pape as chairwoman of its board of directors. A 1975 Edinboro University alumnus, she is the first woman to chair the PBC.

Pape was first appointed to the Edinboro University Council of Trustees by Gov. Corbett in 2012 to fill the unexpired term of Trustee Harry K. Thomas, who died in March of that year. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Edinboro, Juris Doctor from Dickinson School of Law and Master of Laws in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law. She has said she considers Edinboro University to be the foundation of her success.

Higham is president of U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine Inc. and Lubrite Technologies. He served the Edinboro University Alumni Association for 18 years, including five as its president, and is presently the Council of Trustees’ liaison to the Alumni Association.

Higham’s appointment marks his second term as a Trustee; he was first named to the Council by former Gov. Edward Rendell in 2009. He is a 1970 Edinboro graduate, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Math/Science, and has, through his work with the Alumni Association and Council of Trustees, been credited over the years with helping to raise thousands of dollars for scholarships, the Alumni House and the Fighting Scot statue.

The Council of Trustees is Edinboro University's governing body under the 14-university Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).
