Edinboro University's Open House next week marks annual autumnal rite

EDINBORO, Pa. - Autumn.  A time of multi-hued leaves, frost on the pumpkins, sweet apple cider and football.  It's also a time when high school seniors begin to nervously consider and weigh their higher education options before making crucial decisions impacting the rest of their lives.

Edinboro University's annual Fall Open House on Saturday, Oct. 17, has become as traditional an autumn happening on campus as the changing leaves and brightly costumed trick-or-treaters. It's a time when Edinboro's team of professional admissions counselors, financial aid experts and dedicated faculty members take away all that nervousness - for both students and their parents.

It's also an ideal and unrushed time to jump-start the college application process.

On Oct. 17, hundreds of high school students and their parents, as well as potential graduate, transfer and non-traditional students, are expected to descend upon Edinboro University's aesthetically beautiful 585-acre campus for the Fall Open House.

"We know this is an exciting time for all those considering this major decision in their lives," said Edinboro President Jeremy D. Brown. "We want prospective students and their parents to know we're prepared to help in any way we can in providing them with an understanding of what some consider a daunting process, then guiding them through that process as they make such important decisions.

"We'll be delighted to welcome so many to a campus where great things happen, and to acquaint them with Edinboro's more than 100 majors, 50 minors and our mantra for academic excellence and student success."

Scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Frank G. Pogue Student Center (with plenty of free parking), prospective students will find Edinboro's outstanding array of academic majors and minors to choose from, as well as distinguished faculty members on hand to personally answer the toughest questions.

Admissions officers will provide application reviews, and financial aid experts will be available as well as representatives from Edinboro's graduate programs and the university's many student activity programs.
