Edinboro University emergency services drill to underscore Deadly consequences associated with driving while intoxicated

EDINBORO, Pa. - Fire trucks and ambulances, lights flashing and sirens blaring, will be highly visible late this afternoon on the campus of Edinboro University.  Fortunately, it will only be a drill.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department and the Edinboro Emergency Services Organization will join forces in a joint mock car crash exercise, an annual event in recognition of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week.

The mock accident, which will simulate a real-life drunk-driving auto crash involving a fatality and multiple injuries, will be staged in the commuter parking lot near the Baron-Forness Library.

Edinboro's Emergency Services Organization, a student-operated group funded by the Edinboro University Student Government Association, annually co-sponsors the mock crash with the community's volunteer fire department as an important drill and also a reminder of frequent deadly consequences of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
