EDINBORO, Pa. - A delegation from South Korea's Suwon Women's College will meet with Edinboro University President Jeremy D. Brown and university officials Tuesday to sign a memorandum of understanding that will elevate Edinboro's nursing program to the global level.
The memorandum between Edinboro and the Suwon Women's College, and possibly two other South Korean colleges, could lead to that country's students attending Edinboro as part of the university's highly successful nursing program.
Last spring, Brown led an Edinboro delegation to Seoul and Suwon to discuss ways in which Edinboro and Korean colleges could collaborate for the common good of their students, faculties and institutions as part of mutually beneficial global learning.
On Tuesday, Suwon's Yoonshin Lee, head of the Office of International Affairs, and Su Min Oh, professor of Suwon's Department of Nursing, will sign the memorandum of understanding following a luncheon with Brown and other university officials, including Professor Patricia Nosel, chair of the Department of Nursing, and Dr. Terri Astorino, of the Nursing Department. The signing will take place in the President's Dining Suite, Van Houten Dining Hall.
Prior to Tuesday's luncheon, Edinboro officials will accompany the Suwon delegation to Saint Vincent Health Center in Erie, where the delegation will have the opportunity to observe Edinboro nursing students at their clinical rotation training site.
Following lunch, Terry Carlin, Associate Vice President for Partnerships and Development, will take the Suwon delegation on a tour of Edinboro's campus, including a visit to the site of Edinboro's state-of-the-art Human Services Building, now under construction, which will house the Nursing Department.
