Edinboro University students will be out in force Saturday committing random acts of kindness!

EDINBORO, Pa. - If you're in Edinboro Saturday, you could be witness to one of many random acts of kindness!

In fact, it is anticipated that several hundred Edinboro University students will be out in the community Saturday morning and afternoon, starting at 10 a.m., taking part in the University's annual Random Acts of Kindness in Edinboro (R.A.K.E.) program.

Students will gather at the Clock Tower, corner of Meadville and Normal Streets, at 9:30 a.m., then work in two shifts - 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. - performing random acts of kindness throughout the community.

Much of that will be actual raking and fall clean-up at Edinboro residences and churches, with priority given to helping the elderly and disabled with fall chores.

Denise Finazzo Gaines, a professor in the Professional Studies Department and Director of the Community Outreach Program, said R.A.K.E. will go on no matter the weather conditions.

"Of course, we prefer sunshine," she said. "But our students will be out there whatever the weather."

Student participation and volunteerism for the annual community service day is campus-wide, including individuals and members of Greek organizations and campus clubs.
