Edinboro Film Series unveils ambitious spring 2012 schedule
Begins this week with ‘Drive’01/30/2012
EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro Film Series has unveiled its ambitious spring 2012 schedule that features film and spotlight event programs.
The series returns on Thursday, February 2, with the 2011 hit movie “Drive,” staring Ryan Gosling and Carrey Mulligan.
The Edinboro Film Series strives to entertain as well as educate through broadening viewers’ film vocabulary, according to Film Series Director John C. Lyons. Each event is hosted by a filmmaker, director, or another involved in the film industry, allowing students to ask questions and discuss the featured films in depth, Lyons said.
In addition to “Drive,” the spring schedule features the recent “The Swell Season,” as well as old favorites, including “Suspiria” and “Akira.”
Filmmaker Jake Mahaffy will be featured in the March Filmmaker Spotlight event. Mahaffy, who was named in Filmmaker Magazine’s “New Faces of Independent Film,” will work with students in workshops and film screenings during his Edinboro University appearance.
All films are shown in Edinboro’s Frank G. Pogue Student Center’s Multi-Purpose Room at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for each event are $2 for the general public. Films are free to Edinboro University students, faculty and staff.
