Edinboro University Chamber Players are set to perform ‘Fire and Ice’ concert February 2702/17/2012
EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro University faculty will come together February 27 for an extraordinary evening of live music at Erie’s Blasco Memorial Library.
The concert, titled “Fire and Ice,” will feature music by Spanish, Hispanic and Latino composers including Ravel, Piazzola, Villa-Lobos, Zgraja, Pujol, Perfeito, and de Falla. The event is being sponsored by Friends of the Erie County Public Library, the Edinboro University Music Department, ArtsErie, and the Pennsylvania Partners if the Arts.
“The Edinboro University Chamber Players has been in existence for 14 years,” said Dr. Daniel Burdick, co-leader of these virtuoso musicians from the Edinboro University faculty. “This Fire and Ice concert started as a way to warm the Erie region with some wonderful Spanish and Hispanic music during our cold winters.”
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and feature LeAnne Wistrom, flute, Jacqueline Black, cello, Erik Mann and Junar Ortega, guitar, and Dr. Burdick, tuba. The event is free and open to the public.
In preparation for the performance, the group will be visiting the WQLN-TV/Radio studios on upper Peach Street on February 22 at noon for a lobby performance. To listen to the performance being live-streamed on WQLN radio, FM-91.3, log on to www.wqln.org.
The Monday, February 27 performance at the Blasco Memorial Library along Erie’s bayfront will be followed by another free Edinboro University Chamber Players concert on Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m., also in the Blasco Memorial Library and featuring LeAnne Wistrom on flute.
