Edinboro University’s Porreco Center is Erie County Site for GED preparation classes and testing

EDINBORO, Pa. – Continuing its service to the Erie area, and in cooperation with the Warren-Forest Higher Education Council, Edinboro University in Erie-The Porreco Center is now the Erie County site for GED preparation and testing.
Additionally, the Adult Education Program of the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit offers GED Preparation classes at The Porreco Center for free.
For Pennsylvania residents who do not have high school diplomas, passing the General Educational Development tests is the way to earn Commonwealth Secondary School (high school) Diplomas.
Preparation classes are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-to-noon. The next session is scheduled to run from April 10-to-June 15. For more information about these classes, contact the Intermediate Unit at 814-734-8455 or 800-677-5610, Ext. 8455, or visit www.iu5.org.
Individuals who are now ready to take the GED Exam must register in advance. To register, visit www.hi-ed.org, or call 814-723-3222. The cost for the full exam and pre-session is $125. The exam includes sub-tests in writing, math, social studies, science and reading. The cost to re-take any portion of the test is $40 each, up to four parts.
Testing is scheduled in March and April.
The full test will be given on Friday, March 9 from 8 a.m.-to-5 p.m. There will be a mandatory pre-session/orientation Friday, March 2 from 8-to-11 a.m. Also, individuals may re-take any portion of a previous exam on March 2 from 11 a.m.-to-5 p.m., but must also register in advance. The same timeline applies to April 13 and 20 testing.
